The importance of child engagement

Module 7

Engagement is the foundation for all learning! Children must be engaged in order for our instructional strategies to work and engagement can take many forms. Teachers must intentionally plan for engagement at all levels for all children.

Participants in Preschool SDI will be able to:

Define child engagement and why it is essential to learner outcomes.
Explain the levels of engagement and how they apply to various scenarios.
Identify strategies for increasing child engagement.
Explain how to measure child engagement using the STARE (Scale for Teachers’ Assessment of Routines Engagement).
