Purpose of the Tool: The tool can be used by an Administrator in a building that is participating in Preschool SDI professional learning and coaching to observe for implementation of a few key Preschool SDI strategies. In using this tool, administrators will become familiar with a few key Preschool SDI strategies and practices and use the data to have conversations with the team about what was observed and how those observations might connect to the SDI Action plan, including progress that has been made as well as additional steps that could be added.
The Walk-Through tool does not measure full implementation of the Preschool SDI practices, rather it provides a snapshot at one point in time of a few practices that are easily observable.
For a more in-depth measure of fidelity, the Preschool SDI Practice Profiles and Fidelity Checks should be used by the coaches (and administrators who attend the professional learning) during a longer observation, interview, and artifact review process, typically beginning in Year 2 of participation in Preschool SDI.
