The first course of Preschool SDI is an introduction to the SDI Framework and the DEC Recommended Practices and learning how to apply the critical features of Diagnose for Instructional Design. In addition, participants will also learn about universal supports for inclusive classrooms that will also ensure effective SDI for individual children.
The second course of Preschool SDI focuses on using the information gathered during Diagnose to begin designing instruction that is evidence-based, embedded throughout the day, and uses child engagement and social learning opportunities as a foundation for instruction. It also includes continued learning on ensuring the “right” focus and outcome for each child is reviewed and deepened.
The third course of Preschool SDI brings together learning from courses 1 and 2 to create an instructional plan. Course 3 also introduces additional evidence-based practices as well as processes for data collection and progress-monitoring. This course is typically delivered in the 2nd year of Preschool SDI participation.
