Professional Development
The NWS CLC is a Learning Management System (LMS) which provides one location for training and professional development. The site provides access to all NWS training including web-based training and instructor led training.
The NWS Leadership Academy demonstrates a commitment to leadership as a vital part of advancing how we serve our partners and the general public. While their team is located in Kansas City, MO, at the NWS Training Center, they provide in-person and remote training support across the country.
Mentoring benefits everyone across the NWS at every stage in their career, from employees just starting out to employees looking to grow within the NWS. The local mentoring program is designed to better welcome and train our new staff in addition to helping develop an organizational culture based upon continual learning.
Individual development planning benefits the organization by aligning employee training and development efforts with its mission, goals, and objectives.

NWS launched a unique and exciting opportunity for employees outside its headquarters (HQ) offices in Silver Spring, MD to shadow and interact with NWS HQ employees and leadership.
NOAA’s L·A·N·T·E·R·N (formerly NOAA’s Rotational Assignment Program (NRAP)) is a development program to promote employee growth, networking, and collaboration.
