Tiger Team Task Force Executive Summary
The NWS Tiger Team Task Force was established by the authority of the NWS Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) for Weather Services and endorsed and championed by the NWS Executive Council. This Task Force reported operationally to the DAA and was administratively supported by the Director of the Office of Organizational Excellence (OOE). The Task Force Leader consulted frequently with the Director, OOE and kept other key offices and programs informed of its activity, collaborating and coordinating when needed to ensure success of its objectives and sustainment of change beyond the life of the Task Force.
Goals
The goals of the Task Force were as follows:
To implement the remaining Tiger Team recommendations.
To communicate implementation of recommendations to NWS employees, as well as highlight related successes on the Organizational Health Dashboard.
To recommend activities, policy and processes to ensure the implemented recommendations are sustained beyond the Task Force’s stand-down.
Key Results
Measures of success included monitoring of items such as:
Number of actions implemented, resources developed, communications distributed
Data - Context, Experience, Attrition, Recruitment, Retention, Promotion
Tracking - Advancement Opportunities, lateral transfers, job sharing
Hires/Departures & Mentors/Mentees
Number of Recruitment/Outreach events
