Tim Burton is an exceedingly talented storyteller and producer. His portfolio includes
"The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Corpse Bride," "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," and his latest hit "Wednesday," which premiered on Netflix this past November. His greatest works of art, however, may be rooted in racism.
Angela Davis: Controversial or Inspirational?
Why have America's change-makers become categorized as “controversial”? Rockland community members used this adjective, among many others, to deter North Rockland High School from hosting political activist Dr. Angela Davis on December 1st, 2022 in an off-campus event.
Remembering Nyack's Beloved Steve Wilson
On Monday, October 12th, 2022, students and faculty of Nyack High School took a moment of silence to remember our head of cafeteria services, Mr. Steve Wilson, who unfortunately passed that day.
What is it like to be a student athlete at Nyack?
Nyack High School is full of bright and talented young athletes who participate in the wide variety of sports teams that we have to offer. Whether it’s track and field, basketball, or even bowling, there’s something for everyone. And while these teams come with fun games and practices with friends, there also comes responsibility and pressure. As the winter athletic season progresses here at Nyack, there are many different perspectives and experiences that should be shared, and our student-athletes tell all.
Redhawk Replay: Winter Sports Updates
Dribbling their way to an amazing start was the boys basketball team. They won the Howard Godwin Tournament in Sleepy Hollow on December 3rd, soundly defeating Ossining and Henry Hudsonn by ten-point margins with many meaningful contributions, including those from Juniors Raydelh Boutin and Gabe Walker, both selected for the all-tournament team. No contribution was more important than that of Xavier Jules, who won tournament MVP. Since then, the team is 2-0, beginning the season on a four game heater, riding high into their tilt vs Roosevelt in the Red and Black Tournament!
Culinary Corner: Butternut Squash Soup

The day had started out unpromisingly rainy and foggy, and the soggy ground smelled like roots. I was even thinking that the last few golden leaves still clinging to the maple trees looked like the first bloom of spring forsythia. At five o’clock, an hour before our dinner’s start time, the sun came out. I still had to towel dry the cement floor of my porch, which held so much condensation from the tumbling fog. When my friends pulled up, a herd of a dozen deer elegantly glided across the street and melted into my back garden, among confused periwinkle blossoms.

Beyoncé is the face of the 65th annual Grammy Awards, leading the race with nine nominations. Having received eighty-eight in her career, she is the most Grammy nominated artist in history, tied with husband Jay Z. Her album “Renaissance” is up for album of the year along with her hit song, “Break My Soul,” put forth for both song and record of the year.
On December 9th, 2022, SZA released her second studio album, “SOS,” which contains twenty-three tracks about depraved exes, toxic individuals, and simply needing some personal space. This album captivated the country on the day of its release, making its way to everyone’s ears. Just a week later, all of its tracks found a spot in Apple Music’s Top 100: US.
Imagine this: A large tree falls and blocks a local road. A driver crashes into it and becomes paralyzed, so an ambulance arrives to help. However, the municipality does nothing to address the tree in the road. The next driver along this road crashes into the tree and, likewise, is seriously injured. Again, an ambulance comes but nobody removes the tree. Driver after driver crashes into the tree.
Such is the problem with Nyack’s equity efforts.
