Here at Nyack, there are numerous friend groups who enjoy sharing their everyday adventures on social media. Some, in particular, take to Instagram to broadcast their unique friend group experiences. During an interview with senior and junior friend groups Jesus Eats, Seven Deadly Sins, Milopiabbely, and the Stone Cold Pillars, members shared a little more about what it’s like to be social media influencers.
You’re on a beach. It’s night time and the sea breeze brushes against your face and through your hair. Your nose is pointed up as your naturally curious child self gazes at the stars in the clear sky. You’re waiting. Suddenly, a bright ball of light comes tumbling through the sea of stars. Fire surrounds all of its sides as it glows brightly for just a second and quickly fades. This abrupt visit from a piece of space debris leaves you with wide eyes and a new appreciation for worlds beyond Earth. This is the moment Mr. Mattsen knew he wanted to pursue the field of science.
After the victorious launch of the Artemis I mission on November 16, 2022, NASA announced plans for an ongoing Artemis program. Artemis I successfully launched an uncrewed Orion spacecraft around the Moon, and Artemis II will run the same mission with the first crewed flight test. Artemis III aims to conduct the first crewed landing on the Moon.
On March 18, Science Research students Daniel Anton, Kayla Crai, Adriana Gleeson, Gia Lee, Madison Milla, Margaret Palmer, and Janice Yohannan competed in the 2023 Greater Capital Region Science and Engineering Fair (GCRSEF). At the day-long competition, students presented their research to a panel of judges who presented students with special awards and cash prizes. At the end of the award ceremony, judges announced the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners within each scientific category who will advance to this year’s Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, Texas.

“Sweat the petty stuff but don’t pet the sweaty stuff. Life is too short to pretend to not care. I continually ask myself: 'What is the most good I can do?'. This is the personal philosophy that drives our very own, Ms. Chan.
The pandemic limited our ability to gather with one another and socialize with our friends, but students nationwide have come up with new ways to humorously recognize their peers and classmates. Instagram pages displaying students’ poor parking jobs, nap sessions, bad posture, shoes, memes, and more have become a popular and rather interesting source of entertainment.
TikTok has yet again created another disastrous trend. The devious/diabolical lick challenge has spread among middle schools and high schools throughout the country. But what are devious licks? To put it simply, the challenge is built around vandalism. Students record and post videos of themselves showing off items they stole specifically from their school bathrooms.
”The pandemic has definitely taught me to be more appreciative of simple things. I never thought I'd be so happy to return to school. I’m thrilled to see my friends everyday, play with the orchestra again, and rejoin the swim team as junior co-captain..."
“My family and I love cooking and eating traditional foods as well as trying new dishes. My mother was born in Jamaica and is Chinese, Indian, and African while my father is Peruvian and Japanese. Just like Thanksgiving, we plan to spend the day..."
