As winter trudges on, snow days aren’t the only thing Nyack students start thinking about. Skiing and snowboarding season is underway, and even though we don’t have skiable mountains right outside our doors, there are plenty of ski areas close enough for an easy day trip or a weekend adventure. From small local hills to bigger Catskills resorts, there’s something for every type of skier and snowboarder (as long as the snow cooperates).

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This quote, attributed to Martin Luther King Jr., lies at the heart of the legal system. This statement means that injustice is not confined to only the situation or person in question. It weakens justice as a whole, even for those not directly affected by it. While this idea is often discussed in courtrooms and history books, it is also illustrated by the students on the Nyack High School Mock Trial Team.

On Thursday, November 13th, 2025, baristas at over 65 Starbucks across the US went on strike. Known as the "Red Cup Rebellion," it is the largest strike in the company's history. Currently, over 1,000 workers continue to demand fair contracts with higher pay, consistent staffing, and better hours. Along with this, they are protesting to fairly resolve 700+ unfair labor practice charges.

When you go on social media apps such as TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram, there is a lot of content about books. More specifically, influencers on these platforms recommend many, many books of all genres. One popular book that has been recommended countless times on the internet is Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter, one of my personal favorites. It is a romantic story containing signature romance novel tropes, references to romcoms, music and everything in between.

Dear M,
I am having trouble adjusting to my new workload. This year, I added two AP courses to my schedule. I have taken Honors courses in the past, but this already feels really different. I am staying up all hours to get homework done, which is making me tired in class. There are times the teacher is talking, and I have no idea what they are saying. What should I do? ~Burnt-Out

A terrible plague is sprouting among the student body of Nyack High School. It rears its ugly head at the same time every year, with many students falling ill. Symptoms include faulty attendance, declining work ethic, excessive procrastination, and overall academic apathy, disproportionately affecting 12th graders. If you haven’t already guessed, “Senioritis” is the mysterious disease, defined by Merriam Webster as “an ebbing of motivation and effort by school seniors as evidenced by tardiness, absences, and lower grades.”
