The Nyack Redhawks Dance Team is one of the highlights of halftime during football season. As members of the team, we’ve learned that we can work productively together and by doing this, we’ve been able to extend the season from just football games to basketball halftime shows as well. In retrospect, there are also many difficulties we have encountered. Our goal is to be able to perform at more than just sporting events.

The Omicron variant was announced as the worst contagious variant yet. Yes, another one. Aren’t we all tired of this?
“Being a senior at Nyack, it's kind of surreal to think that we came this far. Losing 2 years to COVID was honestly really tough, and the thought of potentially not getting a graduation [ceremony] because of the new spiking COVID cases is really scary. I definitely don't feel like I'm a senior… I still feel like I'm stuck in my sophomore year. Graduating with some of these people that I've known my whole life is going to be a really cool experience. Four years ago I remember thinking to myself, “wow i'll never graduate!”, and yet here we are graduating in five months. I hope everything clears up and we can have a regular spring season with sports and a good graduation where everybody can be included.” - Jenna Davidson, Senior
“Dance has impacted my life in a positive way. It has allowed me to show my creativity as a choreographer. When it comes to my inspiration, I saw the dance team perform at my middle school and I wanted to try something new. After practicing more and more, I knew it was something I loved. I could see myself doing this as a career in the future because dance is connected to me spiritually and emotionally. Dance to me is not just a hobby or talent: it is a world that I am able to create in my own vision.” - Daniel Ortiz, Junior
