As we head into the new year, Nyack now has a long-awaited Varsity Ski Team. Coached by Mr. Nein, the skiers are ecstatic to hit the slopes! After many weeks of conditioning, the skiers will start their first mountain practices after winter break and are expected to race at Thunder Ridge Ski Area on January 10th.
Although being the new team in Section 1 leaves room for speculation, Nyack is coming in confident and enthusiastic. Through Coach Nein’s competitive and inspiring atmosphere at practice, the team will learn to grow and thrive as competitors. The rest of the season is tentative at the moment, but we know we will impress our competition.
Skiing is the perfect off-season sport for many fall and spring athletes, as it is beneficial for maintaining strength and balance. Downhill skiing challenges athletes because gliding down a vertical provides a fear factor and unparalleled exhilaration. A thrill like no other, skiing increases endorphins and is an enjoyable activity if you want to try something new and get outside this winter! Nyack is excited to continue to expand its athletic program and make a difference in the upcoming meets. Okay, Mother Nature, now let it snow!
