The moment the news got out that Bad Bunny would headline this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, the music world buzzed like a stadium crowd just before kickoff. For many, it’s more than announcing a show, it’s like hearing the first drumbeat of a long-awaited celebration. Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has reshaped the very idea of a global superstar, and as he prepares for one of the world’s biggest stages, it’s clear his impact runs deeper than chart-topping hits. It reflects how Latin culture is shaping mainstream American entertainment with its contagious influence of inclusivity and personal style.

As seeds are planted into soil, they are expected to grow. Yet, should all the conditions of growth not be met, the plant can do nothing but die. Humans are different. Our soil can easily become damaged from things like poverty and violence. However, unlike plants, we can seek new ground on our own. Here at Nyack High School the Hispanic Heritage Club honors these journeys, and provides a place for the vibrant cultures of Hispanic communities to bloom.

Laurie McDermott, the director of Nyack Drama Club, has kicked off her second year at Nyack High School. Last year, she directed both Peter and the Starcatcher and The Prom. This fall, Nyack High School’s drama club will be traveling to Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, through Thornton Wilder’s classic play Our Town, where we explore the lives of George Gibbs and Emily Webb and learn about the importance of interconnectedness.

As crazy as it seems, underclassmen will be selecting courses for the 2026-2027 school year in just a few months. With this in mind, it would be beneficial to briefly overview some of the elective-based classes offered here at Nyack High School to give students a brief insight into their futures, should they choose any of these specific classes. This month I spent a day in AP Spanish: Lang & Culture.
The second year of the freshman Mentors program at Nyack High School has officially begun! College applications are one of the most crucial steps toward a college experience, but also one of the most stressful. It's important to remember, that like all great writers, the goal should not be finishing the fastest, or perfecting it from the start, but rather to focus on the process of precise emendation.

In January 2017, environmental advocates around the Hudson Valley celebrated one of their biggest victories in recent memory. Indian Point Energy Center, a nuclear power plant in Buchanan (on the East banks of the Hudson River, about 15 miles north of Nyack) would begin closing its doors.
