Dopamine, often referred to as the “feel-good” neurotransmitter, plays a crucial role in motivation, focus, and overall well-being. For students, maintaining healthy dopamine levels can be the key to success in school and life.
Ron DeSantis’s recent announcement of his candidacy for the presidency has generated significant debate among political observers. While some view him as a promising contender, a closer examination of DeSantis's track record reveals a series of troubling actions and policies that raise serious doubts about his suitability for the highest office in the land.
Nestled in the heart of North Africa, Morocco is renowned for its vibrant markets, stunning landscapes, and rich cultural tapestry. Yet, beneath its surface lies a story less told but equally captivating—the tale of Morocco’s seismic history.
Every February, grocery stores set aside an aisle for color-coded cards for “him” and “her,” jewelers launch ad campaigns encouraging men to treat the women in their lives to a sparkling necklace, and TV channels broadcast romantic comedies starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Anywhere consumers turn, companies perpetuate the narrative that Valentine’s Day is for boyfriends and girlfriends, misters and missus, and other participants in heterosexual relationships. “His” and “hers” themed products ignore the existence of relationships outside of the heteronormative dialogue and gender identities outside of the binary.
Nyack High School is full of bright and talented young athletes who participate in the wide variety of sports teams that we have to offer. Whether it’s track and field, basketball, or even bowling, there’s something for everyone. And while these teams come with fun games and practices with friends, there also comes responsibility and pressure. As the winter athletic season progresses here at Nyack, there are many different perspectives and experiences that should be shared, and our student-athletes tell all.
When most people think about December, there’s usually one thing that comes to mind– Christmas! Twinkling lights, aromatic cups of steamy hot chocolate, bright ornaments surrounding the tree, and cozying up next to the fireplace with family. These are all things that are associated with this cheery time of year, but what about the people that don’t celebrate this cherished holiday?
“What is worth more, art or life?” This is what climate activists from the group “Just Stop Oil” shouted on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 at the National Gallery in London. This indignation was followed by throwing a can of Heinz tomato soup at Vincent Van Gogh’s iconic 1888 painting, “Sunflowers”. As the creamy orange liquid dripped down the protective glaze of the painting, the two young activists proceeded to super glue their hands to the wall beneath the masterpiece.
As the blazing hot summer quickly transitions into the crisp and exciting autumn, the class of 2026 is also going through just as big a change: starting high school. This highly anticipated part of our academic lives has filled our heads and been the most popular topic of conversation for as long as we can remember, but now that the time is finally here, how does the freshman class of Nyack High School really feel?
