Drills (3rd Class)

Introduction

When doing the drill test, you must ensure that he/she is smart in his/her turn-out and bearing.

In this section, you will learn how to do the basic drills for cadets.

Let's reflect...

Have you ever wondered why are drills given in malay? Why not english since we all speak this language?

More importantly, why is it necessary to learn drills? What can you learn from drills?

Do think on these questions and share your thoughts with your teacher officers and cadet inspectors.

Drills

The drills and the words of commands are divided into the following categories:

  • Basic Drills

  • Dressing (Forming up into squads)

  • Static Turning (Turning when stationary)

  • Pledge Taking

  • Saluting (Paying compliments to officers)

  • Pacing (Counting of steps when moving in a direction)

  • Dismissal (falling out from parade)

  • Quick March (Regular, ordered and synchronized walking in formation)

  • Mark Time (marching in place without moving forward)

For more information on the drills that you will learn at this stage, you can watch the demonstration videos or click the play icon.

What is next?

However, Drills cannot be learnt just through watching alone.

As part of your learning, your proficiency in the drills will be assessed by your officers and/or Cadet inspectors.

You must be able to perform the following:

1. Drill practical (you must be able to follow and complete commands given)

2. Words of command (you must be confident in giving the drill commands accurately, clearly with correct timing)

3. Uniform Check (you must look smart and sharp in your uniform)

Try them yourself, and send pictures and videos of your Drills to your Cadet Leaders, Cadet Inspectors, and Teacher-Officers to check that you have done them correctly!
