Drills (1st Class)

Introduction

Before starting this course, you must be familiar with the basics as taught in Drills (3rd Class) and Drills (2nd Class) as you will be leading a squad or even the whole unit at this stage as a cadet leader.

In this drill course, you will learn on doing drills with a cane and some advance drills taught to you in Sec 1 and Sec 2. If you cannot remember, now would be a good time to go to for review.

For more information on the drills that you will learn at this stage, you can access the folder for the demonstration videos and view the drills videos below. The folder labelled additional drill is to teach you the cane drills if you are to lead a squad in a ceremonial parade.

To qualify for the drills (1st class), you must be able to do the following in a drill test conducted by your officers/cadet inspectors as well as planning for ceremonial parades.

What is next?

However, Drills cannot be learnt just through watching alone.

As part of your learning, your proficiency in the drills will be assessed by your officers and/or Cadet inspectors.

You must be able to perform the following:

1. Drill practical (you must be able to follow and complete commands given)

2. Words of command (you must be confident in giving the drill commands accurately, clearly with correct timing)

3. Uniform Check (you must be able to do a uniform inspection effectively)

4. Method of Instruction (you must be able to teach drills within the drill curriculum confidently)

5. Theory Test (as a cadet leader, you will need to do a theory test consisting of all practical knowledge of drills).

Try them yourself, and send pictures and videos of your Drills to your Cadet Leaders, Cadet Inspectors, and Teacher-Officers to check that you have done them correctly!
