The residency program has Cadaver Lab monthly on the third Wednesday and is designed to create an environment for residents, interns, and medical students to practice procedures on human tissue. The goal is to provide exposure to relatively uncommon procedures that are required for graduation from the program. The Cadaver Lab is held in the surgical training lab in the basement of Building 1 from 0800 to 1200. Please wear scrubs to lab.
Similarly, Vivarium is conducted on the second Tuesday of every month and allows trainees to practice high impact procedures on live tissue models in a controlled setting; this lab is also held from 0800 to 1200. Trainees are expected to attend at least one cadaver lab and one vivarium per academic year and are required to attend if scheduled. We typically meet in the EM Resident Room at 0745 the day of lab and walk to the vivarium together. Please wear civilian clothes, we will change in the locker rooms there.Â
Please review the attached document below to prepare before each lab.
Please contact the bioskills resident lead with any further questions.
