Where does the Overview/Introduction/Start Here module fit into the overall course map or design?
The Overview/Introduction/Start Here module is the first module of the course. It sets the tone for what the students will learn, how to navigate the Google Classroom, and the expectations for the course. It’s essential for getting everyone familiar with the structure and goals before moving on to the content.
How is your instructional design approach realized in the modules?
The instructional design is student-centered and organized logically. Each module builds on the previous one, with a mix of lectures, hands-on activities, and discussions. The use of Google Classroom keeps everything organized, and students can easily access resources, submit assignments, and check announcements. I focus on making the content engaging and providing students with opportunities for independent work and collaboration.
Where are you sharing the main course goal and outcomes with your learners?
The course goals and outcomes are shared in the Overview/Introduction module on Google Classroom. Additionally, I’ll highlight the goals in the announcements and ensure that they are posted in a visible spot so students can always refer to them throughout the course.
How does the unit/module align outcomes/goals activities and assessment?
Each unit is aligned with the course goals by designing activities that support the intended learning outcomes. Assessments are designed to evaluate students’ progress toward achieving those goals, so they directly reflect what’s been taught and practiced.
Is this student-centered or teacher-led?
This course is student-centered. While I will guide students through the learning material, the focus is on student participation, independent learning, and collaboration. I provide feedback and support as needed, allowing students to take charge of their own learning journey.
What is the scope or range of the instructor’s role (i.e. Presenter, Facilitator, Coach, Mentor)?
My role is a mix of facilitator and mentor. In the classroom, I will present some content, but my primary role is to guide students through activities and provide support. Outside of class, I am available for coaching during after-school tutoring sessions in person or online through Google Meet.
Is the course blended or fully online?
The course is fully in-person, but all assignments, announcements, and course materials will be posted on Google Classroom. This helps keep everything organized and ensures students have easy access to resources and updates.
How are you introducing the course and yourself and how are you building the learning community?
I’m introducing the course in person on the first day and providing a video on Google Classroom to show students how to navigate the platform. To build a sense of community, students will be encouraged to introduce themselves in class and online, creating opportunities for peer interaction both in person and through the platform.
What is the ratio or percentage of synchronous to asynchronous collaboration?
The course will be primarily synchronous, as it’s an in-person class. However, there will be asynchronous collaboration through Google Classroom for assignment submissions, discussions, and feedback. Optional after-school tutoring sessions via Google Meet or in person will provide additional opportunities for live, real-time help.
How will you address the infrastructure, system, and support needs and issues the learner may face?
I’ve created a tutorial video on how to use Google Classroom, ensuring students know how to navigate the platform. I’ll provide tech support via email if needed and hold office hours for troubleshooting. Additionally, I’m available for after-school tutoring in person or through Google Meet for extra help.
