In this section of my ePortfolio, I introduce the key assignments that guided my research and planning process, my outline, literature review, and action research plan.
This outline provides an overview of my action research project, which focuses on integrating iPads and QR codes into my 7th-grade Art and 8th-grade PALS classes. It details the research topic, purpose, guiding question, mixed-methods approach, data collection strategies, and the focus of my supporting literature review.
This literature review explores the impact of educational technology—specifically iPads and QR codes—on student engagement, digital literacy, and academic performance in middle school Art and Leadership (PALS) classrooms. Drawing from a variety of scholarly sources, it highlights how these tools enhance creativity, motivation, and student voice while supporting personalized learning. The review also addresses challenges in implementation, such as limited training and budget constraints, and suggests strategies to overcome them. Findings support the intentional integration of digital tools to empower students, showcase their work, and foster meaningful classroom experiences. This research forms the foundation for a classroom-based action study evaluating these tools’ effectiveness in fostering student growth in creativity, leadership, and digital fluency.
This Action Research Plan examines how using iPads and QR codes in 7th-grade Art and 8th-grade PALS classes can boost student engagement, creativity, and digital literacy. The study will collect data over six weeks through surveys, reflections, and student projects. The goal is to understand how these digital tools impact student motivation and learning. Results will be shared with administrators and teachers to offer insights and strategies for integrating technology in classrooms.

I’m so proud of my students! The iPad and QR code implementation has been working beautifully. They’re creating amazing digital art and also completing research projects. With their permission, I’ve added some photos of the incredible work they’ve been doing on the iPads. Check them out!
One of my fellow colleagues even stepped in as our judge—such a fun and engaging moment! Check them out!
