Matthew 18:1-5
Children in the Kingdom of God
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Psalm 50:1
God Summons the Sun to Rise and to Set
1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.
Jesus reminds us that the Kingdom of God belongs to little children...Is it possible God, the Creator of our universe is more than a Child than I am...Is it possible He never tires of doing things over and over again?...God never may be bored of routine...And even though He has been with us from the beginning, He still has these boy-like traits...In His character maybe He always finds the new and the curious...He speaks and the sun rises each morning, and He summons it to set each evening...He never tires of the beauty of the sun rising, and He always sees the newness of the sun setting...
We can learn from children...We can be less selfish...We can wonder at life's mysteries and be amazed...And we can dream of many different things...We can dream of reaching our potential and look to a Man who has done it, a Man who has reached human-kind's potential -and tells us that whoever welcomes the child in His name welcomes Him...
