John 14:1-7
The Way, the Truth, and the Life
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 12:25
Losing our Life
25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
Matthew 10:39
Lost in this Life
39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 16:24
Denying Ourselves
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Galatians 5:17
The Way of the Spirit
17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
John 17:3
Now This is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Those that love this life on earth will lose it...If we take every precaution we can to maintain our great life on earth, we are not looking forward and thinking about Jesus, or thinking like Jesus...When we are constantly working and doing things on earth to preserve who we are and what we have, we are doing our will, and not the will of God...Through all these earthly things we do, we are looking more inward and toward our self...Jesus wants us to look at this and our earthly lives, and realize there is something else, something better...There is the way of the Spirit, which is different than the way of the earth and flesh...There is Something must bigger than self...When we think about this, our lives on earth are normally a lifelong process...Suffering happens along the way...And then death happens to be a part of our life...We go from youth to teen to mid-life to old age and in this process, we are slowing making our way to either Jesus or to something else...This difference is all the difference in the world...
We are comfortable in life, when things are going well...We are comfortable when things in our lives are pleasurable...In these type of times we try to prolong and make them happen more often...We want them to happen again and again...The good life is nice...To be wealthy, have all the pleasures, always being comfortable, having no pain or pains, being famous and well known, and being honored by others -however, is not the Jesus way...Jesus and the cross seem to be another way and in Another World...In the Jesus Way, we are to deny ourselves and trust and believe in Him and His Father...Believe in a way that is not as comfortable, not of wealth, not of being famous, and not being honored by others...God does not do away with death, although He could at anytime...God does not take away all the pains as we live our lives, although He could at anytime...No man must live, experience his life, and then die...But the resurrection shows us that there is eternal life...Those that follow and know Him and His Father will find life, eternal life...God can transform death into life, eternal life...
