John 1:14
Jesus Full of Grace and Truth
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Matthew 16:13-20
What About You, Who Do You Say I AM
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
I have often read that many people think that Jesus is a controversial figure...What He said and did on earth can divide people and groups...This is interesting, when you read about what He taught and study His teachings...He was always teaching about loving God and loving your neighbor...He teaches us the eternities...For some reason we can talk about God to various people and groups, but a little less so about Jesus...Josh McDowell in part of the introduction to his book, More Than A Carpenter, he writes: Why is it you can talk about God and nobody gets upset, but as soon as you mention Jesus, people often want to stop the conversation?...Why have men and women down through the ages been dividend over the question, Who is Jesus?"...
Jesus said two thousand years ago He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...No one comes to the Father except through Him...And He said if we really know Him, we will know God Himself...Jesus did not say this to outsiders...He did not say this to an opposing religion or an opposing group...He did not say this directly to the Pharisees, the teachers of the law, or the elders, who often opposed Him...No, He made this very controversial statement to His Disciples...The Twelve He was closest to...He made this statement to the Twelve I would consider His friends...Imagine if He did say this to an opposing group...Imagine telling them that You are the Only Way to God...What might have happened?...That would probably would get One killed in His day...
Much if not all of Jesus' controversy is the in the Great Words He spoke...He spoke as if, He is Divine...There is this Great Sense of Authority...It makes one controversial, when you are on the earth to think of yourself, or in His case Divine...I believe His being Divine and being on earth made Him and makes Him this controversial Figure...Being Divine and being on earth, makes One controversial, because He was surrounded by men...We as humans, just do not know how to understand these sacred things, or handle the Great Divine things...We cannot get our minds around what He said and did...We, as man, do not know how to handle One completely full of grace and truth, let alone understand it (Him)...
