Luke 20:37-38
The Living God
37 But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
Luke 24:4-8
The Dead Among the Living
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.
Philippians 1:20-26
To Live is Christ To Die is Gain
20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.
Matthew 16:16
Peter Tells Us - Jesus is Son of the Living God
16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Matthew 22:29-32
Jesus Says God is Alive
29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
In these verses, we learn that God is not dead and Jesus is not dead...They both are living...God is not our God of the dead, but our Living God...Jesus is not our Savior of the dead, but He is our living Savior...Do we treat and act as if Jesus and His Father are alive?...The soul of righteous men are alive, no matter when they died, and are in the presence of God...Jesus tells us that God is not dead, but living...He is not the God of the dead but of the living...And if one believes in Jesus and that He never lies, then God is alive...
To the living God, we never die...God has given our soul an energy...It will go on forever...Our soul will go on from this energy that God has given it...The soul will either spend an eternity dying in hades, or the soul will spend an eternity, living with the Father in heaven...And if you believe that we will spend either an eternity of dying in hell, or an eternity of living with the God our Creator then we must take the daily choices, we make each and everyday to reach heaven or hell, very seriously...We must take heaven and hell very seriously...
We are taught by Jesus, that when Moses gives us the account of the burning bush, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are, in fact, still alive...They still live...So is there God...We also learn that the women, who went looking for Jesus after His death, are stopped by angels...The angels told them, Jesus is alive...He is not dead...There was no use to search for the living among the dead...He has risen...He is alive...If we believe Jesus resurrected, then we can look at death differently...We no longer have to be afraid of death, for ourselves and our neighbors...St. Paul sums this up when He says, to live is Christ and to die is gain...It is far better to be with Christ than to be without Him...
