Matthew 24:35
The Words of Jesus
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
John 14:15-21
The Holy Spirit to be Sent to the Disciples
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Mark 16:20
The Words of Jesus Confirmed
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
1 John 4:15
God with Us
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
John 15:26-27
The Work of the Holy Spirit
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
I often think about the Holy Spirit in Jesus day, versus our day...Was the Holy Spirit, especially strong (or stronger) after He sent it to the early followers of His?...It certainly seems that the Disciples, after Jesus ascended into heaven, at the Pentecost were filled with the Holy Spirit...And the Disciples would go out and confirm His word though the Holy Spirit that they had received...On the day of the Pentecost, I think the Disciples realized that Jesus was in the Father, and the Disciples felt the Holy Spirit and Jesus in them, because He says you will basically then realize, I AM in the Father and I AM in you...
Jesus tells His Disciples that He is going away, and the world will no longer see Him...But they will see Him...For the Holy Spirit will be in them and they (the Disciples) will be in Him...Because Jesus will live eternally, His Disciples shall also live...The Holy Spirit will help keep His word and teachings alive...
The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus...It would be an advocate, a comforter for them (and us)...The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth...The Holy Spirit, being a Spirit, would not be seen, so faith would be needed to receive the Holy Spirit...Also, one must believe in Jesus to receive the Holy Spirit...Had the Disciples not believed in Him, they might not have received, felt and have been filled with the Holy Spirit...For the Disciples acknowledged that Jesus is the Son of God, then God lived and lives in them and they in God...
So for us to receive the Holy Spirit, we have to believe in Jesus and recognize and believe that He is the Son of God...And this indwelling of the Holy Spirit that He puts in us, will give us a curiosity, a feeling, or something that will keep His words and teachings going on until eternity...For heavens and earth will eventually pass away, when God says the time is right, but the words of Jesus will never pass away...Today, this is still happening...Jesus' word still resonates throughout the world...Today the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit in believers of the Son of God continue to spread His word...His word continues...And somehow, whether strong belief or weak belief of generations after generation of people after people, His words have not passed away, thanks to the Holy Spirit in each of His believers...
