Mark 15:33-41
The Death of Jesus is the Grand Miracle
33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”
36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said.
37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
40 Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome. 41 In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
If one believes in God, then one believes in miracles...Creation happened by God and it was a great miracle...There are many miracles in the Old Testament, especially ones associated with Moses and helping God's people leave Egypt...God also miraculously had Mother Mary a normal human be impregnated by His Holy Spirit...And God would have a Son named Jesus where He would be the Father, and Mary would be the Mother of the Son of God...So God would give birth with Mary to a Son in Bethlehem...And so it is written that God would send His Son to earth to show us and teach us about God, the Kingdom of God, and about His Son...And we learn that Jesus is Full of Grace and Truth and is Divine...And He is Infinite like His Father...God gave Jesus an Authority like no one else has ever had, but then no one is like the Father, except for the Son...No one has this Special Relationship with God except Jesus...We see this relationship in the Trinity, where there is God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God...These three make up the Trinity of God...God would send His Son to earth to dwell among us so we could learn about the most Importance Spiritual Ways and Beliefs in life...These are the most Sacred and Holy of Things in this world, and they are the things we should Treasure in life...No one has ever seen God, but the One and Only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, who has made Him known...In John's first epistle, he proclaims the Good News about Jesus coming and dwelling on earth...St. John says, “so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ”...God wants us to have a relationship with Him and His Son...And God wants us to believe in Him and His miracles and His Son's miracles too...So like God, Jesus, the Son of God, is the Only One Who can do certain things to change nature, and do certain miracles...Jesus' miracles and His relationship with His Father show us that He is from God and a little of what the Kingdom of Heaven is like...
Through all the miracles we read about in the Bible, there is On Grand Miracle, which C. S. Lewis writes about in his essay, One Grand Miracle...The One Grand Miracle, which Lewis writes about, happens on the Day of Easter and is Jesus' Resurrection...It is a miracle that it happened, but it also saves mankind from their sins, past, present, and future...One Grand Miracle does seem like the proper name for the Resurrection of Jesus...This One Grand Miracle, is the most important fact in mankind's history...Because this miracles let's us have Eternal Life with the Father and Son if we believe and have faith in both of Them...
Author C. S. Lewis said this about miracles and the One Grand Miracle..."One is very often asked at present whether we could not have a Christianity stripped, or, as people who asked it say, ‘freed’ from its miraculous elements, a Christianity with the miraculous elements suppressed...Now, it seems to me that precisely the one religion in the world, or, at least the only one I know, with which you could not do that is Christianity...In a religion like Buddhism, if you took away the miracles attributed to Gautama Buddha in some very late sources, there would be no loss; in fact, the religion would get on very much better without them because in that case the miracles largely contradict the teaching...Or even in the case of a religion like Mohammedanism, nothing essential would be altered if you took away the miracles...You could have a great prophet preaching his dogmas without bringing in any miracles; they are only in the nature of a digression, or illuminated capitals...But you cannot possibly do that with Christianity, because the Christian story is precisely the story of One Grand Miracle, the Christian assertion being that what is beyond all space and time, what is uncreated, eternal, came into nature, into human nature, descended into His Own universe, and rose again, bringing nature up with Him...It is precisely one great miracle...If you take that away there is nothing specifically Christian left...There may be many admirable human things which Christianity shares with all other systems in the world, but there would be nothing specifically Christian."...
