Mark 14:60-62
Jesus Tells Us He is the Son of the Blessed One
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
62 "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
John 11:45-57
The Plot to Kill Jesus
45 Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him. 46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.
“What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs. 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”
49 Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! 50 You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”
51 He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, 52 and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one. 53 So from that day on they plotted to take his life.
54 Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea.Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.
55 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover. 56 They kept looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple courts they asked one another, “What do you think? Isn’t he coming to the festival at all?” 57 But the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who found out where Jesus was should report it so that they might arrest him.
As people waited for the Messiah to come, many thought that the Messiah might be a military type leader...But when the Messiah came, the people found out that He was not One of force or One of war...He was a peace bringing Rabbi...He did not use fear tactics to have people follow Him...Jesus was One of peace, who came to help sinners and be a Spiritual Leader...One completely on the side of the weak, the troubled, the lesser and the meek...He did not seek control or shame those who were ill or in need of any type of help whatsoever...He helped those who needed mercy...He helped those who sinned...He helped others through love and forgiveness...
Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One...He was the One that the Old Testament Prophets wrote about...He is our Suffering Servant...
So when Jesus began His ministry and as He taught He did so in a freewill-type way...He allowed His Teachings to be listened to and studied...He did not force His Teachings on anyone...One had the right to accept what He taught, as eleven of His Disciples did, or to reject them as the High Priest and Pharisees did...Jesus is Absolute Truth and gives us this choice to choose His Way of Life or to reject His Teachings, there is a peace in His Ways...When we think more like Him we see that love, mercy, and forgiveness have this Great Power in this world and in Eternity and His Kingdom...
