Two Greatest Commandments
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
Matthew 5:48
God is Perfect
48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
1 Peter 1:15-16
Be Holy as God is Holy
15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Luke 18:19
Only God is Good
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
Jesus told us to love God with all of our hearts, all of our souls, and with all our minds, and all our strength...This is harder for me when things have gone amiss, and things are not going right in my life...It just seems easier for me to love and trust Him when things are going right...And much of it has to do with my mind and the my thoughts about God in the times that something has went wrong...But I for some reason, continue to pray...
So, I think it is easier to believe in God and to praise Him when things are going good in our lives...The mind seems more willing to believe and praise...But when we are ask to trust in Him and lean on His understanding and not our own in the lowest of our moments it is harder, at least for me...Maybe it is my own mentality and mind and my personal thoughts that is trying to bring His Complete Understanding to a lower level, where I might understand things better...But I have no control of the Ancient of Days...My futile attempts to understand Him better with my finite intellect, maybe a method being used by me to lower His Standards, or my attempt to lower both His Standards and His Understanding...His Goodness, His Perfection, His Holiness seem to be lost my own understanding...
But I do not think our Father worries about this...He LOVES us...He just wants me to be faithful and believe in Him, even if my own understanding and thoughts get in the way...His Goodness, Perfection, and Holiness remain forever, despite what I might think...
