Abul Hassan AS al Thalith, al Imam Ali ibn Muhammad AS al Hadi al Naqi
1 Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! 2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre. 3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
‘Al-Mutawakkil asked Ibn Al-Jahm, ‘Who is the most poetic of the people?’ He mentioned the poets of the pre-Islamic period and Al-Islam. Then he asked Abu Al-Hassan-asws. He-asws said: ‘Al-Himany, where he said, ‘We had chosen a group from Qureysh, with stretched cheeks and extended fingers (arrogance). When we disputed the judgment, he judged for us against them with what because he understood the call of the monasteries. He saw us being silent, while the testimony of our merits is loud of the voice upon in every gathering, for Rasool-Allah-saww, Ahmad-saww, is our grandfather-saww, and we, his-saww sons are like the emerging stars’ He said, ‘And what is the call of the of the monasteries, O Abu Al-Hassan-asws?’ He-asws said: ‘I testify that there is no god except Allah-azwj, and I testify that Muhammad-saww is Rasool-Allah-saww. Is he-saww my-asws grandfather-saww or your grandfather?’ Al-Mutawakkil laughed, then said, ‘He-saww is your-asws grandfather-saww. We cannot push you-asws away from him-saww’’.
4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. 5 When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph.
One day the Imam Ali-asws Bin Muhammad-asws said: ‘O Abu Musa! I-asws have been brought out to Surmanray by force, and if I-asws were to be taken out from it, I-asws would be going out unwillingly!’ He (the narrator) said, ‘I said, ‘And why, O my Master-asws?’ He-asws said: ‘Due to the goodness of its weather, and the freshness of its water, and scarcity of its diseases’. Then he-asws said: ‘Surmanray would be ruined to the extent there would be betrayal in it, and a grocer for the passer-by and a sign you will come across for its ruination, you will come across the construction on my-asws Mausoleum from after me-asws’’.
6 “I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket. 7 In your distress you called and I rescued you, I answered you out of a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
They came with a ladder and the lions were released, and there were six lions. Abu Al-Hassan-asws descended to them. When he-asws entered (the enclosure) and was seated, the lions came to him-asws and threw themselves in front of him-asws and extended their hands and placed down their heads in front of him-asws. He-asws went on to wipe upon the head of each one of them. Then he-asws indicated to it by his-asws hand to isolate. So it isolated in a corner, until all of them had isolated, and stood parallel to him-asws. The minister said to him-asws, ‘This is not correct. Rush to extract him-asws from over there before his-asws news spreads!’ He said to him-asws, ‘O Abu Al-Hassan-asws! We did not intend evil with you, and rather we wanted to be upon certainty from what you-asws had said, so I would love it if you-asws could ascend’.
8 Hear me, my people, and I will warn you— if you would only listen to me, Israel! 9 You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me. 10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
I will end the life of his son Ali with contentment. He is My guardian and supporter. He is My witness among My people and the trustee, to whom My revelation is entrusted.
11 “But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. 12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.
A person snitched on Imam Ali Al Hadi to the Khalifa Al Moutawakel that there are letters and weapons at the imam’s house from his followers in Quom. And the Imam intends to overthrow the government. (Al Moutawakel) sent Turkish soldiers (to investigate the matter). They invaded the Imam’s house at night, and they didn’t find anything (weapons or letters). But the soldiers found the Imam locked in a house. He had on him a wool blanket sitting on sands and stones. He was reciting Quran, and his attention was devoted to Allah. The Imam was picked up at his current state to Al-Moutawakel. The soldiers told the Khalifa we couldn’t find anything in his house. We found him reading Quran facing Mecca. Al- Moutawakel was holding a glass of wine and his companions were drunk. When Al-Moutawakel saw the Imam he feared and glorified him. He had him seated beside him. The Khalifa tried to hand the Imam his own glass of wine. The Imam replied by God it will never (be mixed) infect my blood or flesh. The Imam then asked to be excused (from drinking it) and he was. Al-Moutawakel said: recite some poetry for me. The Imam -peace be upon him- said: I don’t recite much poetry. Al-Moutawakel said: you must. The Imam -peace be upon him- while sitting there recited: They slept on high mounts guarded by mighty men. But those high mounts couldn’t save them (from death) They were brought down from their high might and placed down in graves. What a miserable place to be in. A caller shouted upon them after their burial. Where are (what happened to) the beds, the crowns, and the jewelry. (you had) Where are the joyful faces that where ****tered (protected from the sun) by blindsand thin covers? The grave replied when the dead were questioned Those faces are a battle field for the worms. (Those faces were eaten by worms) For so long they eat and drank. After eating for so long they were eaten. For so long they built homes to safe guard them. They left those guarded homes and their beloved ones and departed. For so long they banked and saved money They left it to the enemies, and moved on (to the graves) Their houses are emptied and neglected And its inhabitants to the graves deported Ask the Khalifa when death is upon him Where are your guards, horses, and servants? Where are the shooters? Aren’t you supposed to be protected by their arrows, when the arrows of death were moving toward you? Where are your protectors? Why didn’t they lined up in anger and protect you? Where those armies that nations are protect by?? (When death arrives toward you) What a pity, they (protectors and armies) were useless and couldn’t push death far from you, when your time was up. If this is so, then how do you wish an everlasting life when your soul is hanged by the threads of death? Al-Moutawakel cried so much that his beard was soaked by his own tears, and so were the present companions. Al-Moutawakel gave Imam Ali -Al Hadi peace be upon him- 4000 Dinars and sent him back home graciously
13 “If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, 14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!
Zarafa said, ‘By Allah-azwj! The third day did not come until Al-Muntasir, and with him was Bugha, and servants, and the Turks, attacked upon Al-Mutawakkil. They killed him and cut him and Al-Fat’h Bin Khaqan (into pieces) together, to the extent one of them could not be recognised from the other, and Allah-azwj Removed his bounties and his kingdom. I met the Imam-asws Abu Al-Hassan-asws after that and let him-asws know what had flowed with the teacher and what he had said. He-asws said: ‘He spoke the truth. When the efforts (tiredness) reached from me-asws, I-asws resorted to the treasures we-asws had inherited from our-asws forefathers-asws. It is the mightiest of the fortresses and the weapons, and the shields, and it is a supplication by the oppressed against the oppressors. I-asws supplicated with it against him and Allah-azwj Destroyed him’.
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. 16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon `Ali the son of Muhammad, the successor of the Successors, the leader of the pious, the descendant of the leaders of the religion, and the argument against all of the creatures. O Allah, as You have made him the source of light from which the believers derive light, and so he conveyed the good tidings of Your abundant reward, warned against Your painful punishment, notified against Your prowess, reminded of Your sings, rendered legal that which You have deemed legal, rendered illegal that which You have deemed illegal, explained Your laws and the duties towards You, encouraged on servitude to You, enjoined obedience to You and forbade disobedience to You, so also (please) bless him with the most favorite blessings that You have ever bestowed upon any of Your intimate servants and descendants of Your Prophets. O God of the Worlds!
