A careful comparison of the twelve Psalms of Asaph to the names of the twelve sons of Ishmael, which give the clues to the characteristics of each of the twelve slots, shows that these Psalms reflect the character of each of the twelve Imams.
Allamah Majlisi RA narrates:
Abu Aamir Hisham Al-Dastawany said, ‘I met a Jew called Asou Ibn Awsou at Al-Hira and he was a Rabbi of the Jews and their scholar, and I asked him about these names, and recited these to him. He said to me, ‘From where did you know these attributes?’ I said, ‘These are the names’. He said, ‘These aren’t names, but these are attributes of a group and correct descriptions in Hebrew. We find these with us in the Torah, and if you had asked anyone else about it, he would have been blind from recognising these or blinded you’.
I said, ‘And why is that so?’ He said, ‘As for the blindness, it is the ignorance with it, and as for blind you, perhaps you will happen to be a backer upon his religion, and informed with it, and rather I acknowledge to you with these description because I am a man from the children of Haroun AS Bin Imran AS, a believer in Muhammad SAWW. I have kept that a secret from my interior, from the Jews, those Al-Islam has not been presented to them, and I will never reveal it to anyone after you until I die’.
I said, ‘And why is that so?’ He said, ‘Because I find in the books of my forefathers of the past, from the sons of Haroun AS that we (Jews) will not believe in this Prophet SAWW whose name is Muhammad SAWW, apparently, and we shall believe in him SAWW in the hidden until Al- Mahdi ASWS Al-Qaim ASWS from his SAWW sons ASWS appears. So, the one from us who comes across him, let him believe in him ASWS, and by him ASWS is attributed the last of the names’.
I said, ‘And with what is he ASWS attributed?’ He said, ‘It is attributed that he ASWS shall prevail upon the religions, all of them, and the Messiah AS would emerge to him AS and make it a religion with him ASWS, and would be a companion of his ASWS’. I said, ‘Describe these attributes to me so I can know its knowledge’. He said, ‘Yes, preserve it from me and fortify (conceal) it except from its rightful ones, and its place if Allah AZWJ so Desires.
As for ‘Taqoubeyt’, he ASWS is the first of the successors ASWS and successor ASWS of last of the Prophets SAWW; and as for ‘Qayzu’, he ASWS is the second of the successors ASWS and the first of the offspring of the elites; and as for ‘Davberya’, he ASWS is the second of the offspring, and chief of the martyrs; and as for ‘Mafsura’, he ASWS is chief of the ones worshipping Allah AZWJ from His AZWJ servants;
And as for ‘Masmua’, he ASWS is inheritor of knowledge of the former ones and the latter ones; and as for ‘Dumouhu’, he ASWS is the incomparable speaker from Allah AZWJ, the truthful; and as for ‘Masbou’, he ASWS is best of the imprisoned ones in the prison of the oppressors; and as for ‘Hazar’, he ASWS is the deprived of his ASWS right, displaced from his ASWS homeland, the barred;
And as for ‘Yasmu’, he ASWS is the one short of life-time long of the impact; and as for ‘Batour’, he ASWS is fourth of his ASWS name; and as for ‘Nowqas’, he ASWS is named as his ASWS uncle; and as for ‘Qaydamu’, he ASWS is the ‘lost’ from his w father ASWS and his ASWS mother AS, and absent by the Command of Allah AZWJ and His AZWJ Knowledge, and the rising one with His AZWJ Wisdom’’.537
Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Muqatil b. Sulayman from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said:
The Messenger of Allah (s) said: I am the Master of Prophets, and my deputy is the Master of Deputies, and his deputies are the masters of deputies. Surely, Adam (as) asked Allah to give him a righteous deputy. So, Allah revealed to him: “I ennobled the prophets with prophethood, then I chose My creation, and I made the choicest of them the deputies.” Then, Allah revealed to him: “O Adam! Depute Sheeth.” So, Adam deputed Sheeth – and he is Habatullah (the Gift of Allah) b. Adam. Sheeth deputed his son Shaban, who is the son of Nazala, the houri that Allah bestowed unto Adam from Paradise; so, he married her to his son Sheeth. Shaban deputed Mujallath. Then, Mujallath deputed Mahuq. Then, Mahuq deputed Ghathmisha. Then, Ghathmisha deputed Ekhnokh – and he is Idris the prophet (as). Then, Idris deputed Nahur. Then, Nahur gave it to Nuh the prophet (as). Then, Nuh deputed Sam. Then, Sam deputed `Athamir. Then, `Athamir deputed Bar`ithasha. Then Bar`ithasha deputed Yafith. Then, Yafith deputed Barra. Then, Barra deputed Jafiyya. Then, Jafiyya deputed `Imran. Then, `Imran gave it to Ibrahim the Friend of the Merciful (as). Then, Ibrahim deputed his son Isma`il. Then, Isma`il deputed Ishaq. Then Ishaq deputed Ya`qub. Then, Ya`qub deputed Yusuf. Then, Yusuf deputed Buthriya’. Then, Buthriya’ deputed Shu`ayb (as). Then, Shu`ayb gave it to Musa b. `Imran (as). Then, Musa b. `Imran (as) deputed Yusha` b. Nun. Then, Yusha` b. Nun deputed Dawud (as). Then, Dawud (as) deputed Sulayman as). Then, Sulayman (as) deputed Asif b. Barkhiyya. Then, Asif b. Barkhiyya deputed Zakariyya (as). Then, Zakariyya (as) gave it to `Isa b. Maryam (as). Then, `Isa deputed Sham`un b. Ham`un al-Safa. Then, Sham`un deputed Yahya b. Zakariyya. Then, Yahya b. Zakariyya deputed Mundhir. Then, Mundhir deputed Sulayma. Then, Sulayma deputed Barda. Then, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: Burda gave it to me, and I give it to you, `Ali. You will give it to your deputy, and then your deputy will give it to your deputies from your descendants, one after the other, until it is given to the best of the people of the Earth after you. The Nation will disbelieve over you, and they dispute over you severely. One who is steadfast with you is like one who is established with me, while one who estranges you is in the Fire – and the Fire is the lodging of the disbelievers.
