Abu Muhammad, Sayyid Shabab ahlil Jannah, Al Imam Al Hassan ibn Ali AS al sibt al Mujtaba
1 Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. 3 For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
"When Ali AS was killed, Hasan ibn Ali AS addressed the people and said, ‘On this night, a man has passed away whom no one before him surpassed in knowledge, and no one after him will ever attain his level of knowledge. He left behind only seven hundred silver coins, neither gold nor silver, as that was what was left of his wealth after his countless acts of charity. He intended to use that amount to purchase a servant for his family.’ Then Imam Hasan AS continued, 'O people, whoever recognizes me has truly recognized me, and whoever does not, I am Hasan ibn Ali AS, the son of the warner and caller to Allah by His permission. I am the shining lamp. I am from the household in which Gabriel descended, and I am from the purified family from whom Allah has removed all impurity and purified them thoroughly.’"
4 They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. 5 They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills. 6 Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. 7 Their eyes bulge with fat (Hebrew) their evil imaginations have no limits.
Ibn Abbas reported: I was playing with children that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) happened to pass by (us). I hid myself behind the door. He (the Prophet) came and patted my shoulders and said: Go and call Mu’awiya. I returned and said: He is busy in taking food. He again asked me to go and call Mu’awiya to him. I went (and came back) and said that he was busy in taking food, whereupon he said: May Allah not fill his belly! Ibn Muthanna, said: I asked Umm Umayya what he meant by the word Hatani. He said: It means “he patted my shoulders.”
8 They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression. 9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth.
This is a narration from Al-Halabi, who heard from Zarrara, Hamran, and Muhammad ibn Muslim. They said: “We asked Imam Abu Ja’far (Imam Muhammad al-Baqir) about the verse in the Quran, ‘And We did not make the sight which We showed you (O Muhammad) but a trial for the people.’ (Quran, Surah Al-Isra, 60) Imam Abu Ja’far replied, ‘It refers to seeing men on the pulpits leading people astray. One is called Zurayq, and the other is called Zufar.’” Then they asked him about the verse, ‘And the cursed tree in the Quran.’ (Quran, Surah Al-Isra, 60) He replied, "They are Bani Umayyah."
10 Therefore their people turn to them and drink up waters in abundance. 11 They say, “How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?” 12 This is what the wicked are like— always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.
Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib and a man of Banu Asad from the people of Qinnisrin went to Mu’awiyah ibn AbuSufyan. Mu’awiyah said to al-Miqdam: Do you know that al-Hasan ibn Ali (AS) has died? Al-Miqdam recited the Qur’anic verse “We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.” A man asked him: Do you think it a calamity? He replied: Why should I not consider it a calamity when it is a fact that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to take him on his lap, saying: This belongs to me and Husayn belongs to Ali? The man of Banu Asad said: (He was) a live coal which Allah has extinguished. Al-Miqdam said: Today I shall continue to make you angry and make you hear what you dislike. He then said: Mu’awiyah, if I speak the truth, declare me true, and if I tell a lie, declare me false. He said: Do so. He said: I adjure you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbidding use to wear gold? He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited the wearing of silk? He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited the wearing of the skins of beasts of prey and riding on them? He said: Yes. He said: I swear by Allah, I saw all this in your house, O Mu’awiyah. Mu’awiyah said: I know that I cannot be saved from you, O Miqdam.
13 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence. 14 All day long I have been afflicted, and every morning brings new punishments. 15 If I had spoken out like that, I would have betrayed your children (servants). 16 When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply 17 till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.
‘When Al-Hassan-asws Bin Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws reconciled with Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan, the people entered to see him-asws. Some of them blamed him-asws upon his-asws having pledged the allegiance. Al-Hassan-asws said: ‘Woe be unto you all! What do you want? By Allah-azwj! What I-asws have done, that which I-asws did is better for my-asws Shias than whatever the sun emerges upon or sets! Do you not know that I-asws am your Imam-asws, and obeying me-asws is obligatory upon you all? And I-asws am a chief of the youths of the people of Paradise by a text from Rasool-Allah-saww upon me-asws!’ They said, ‘Yes’. He-asws said: ‘Don’t you know that when Al-Khizr-as punctured the boat, and straightened the wall, and killed the boy, that had caused Anger for Musa-as Bin Imran-as, when an aspect of the wisdom regarding that was hidden unto him-as? And that was wisdom in the Presence of Allah-azwj, Exalted is His-azwj Mention, and correct.
18 Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. 19 How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! 20 They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.
And by his (al-Fadhl ibn Shazhan RA) chain raising it to Abu Baseer, ‘From Abu Ja’far-asws in a lengthy Hadeeth, up to he-asws said: ‘And a lot of people from the clan of Umayya would be defeated until they join up with the land of Rome. They would seek to its king to let them enter into it. The king would say to them, ‘You will not enter until you enter into our religion and marry us, and we marry you, and you eat the meat of pigs and drink the wine, and hang the crucifix in your necks, and the belts in your waists’. They would accept that, so they would let them enter. Al-Qaim-ajfj would send (a message) to them: ‘Bring them out, the ones whom you have let enter!’ They would say, ‘They are a people desirous regarding our religion and are abstaining from your-ajfj religion’. He-ajfj would say: ‘If you do not expel them, we shall place the sword among you all!’ They would say to him-ajfj, ‘This is the Book of Allah-azwj between us and you all!’ He-ajfj would say: ‘I-ajfj agree with it!’ They would come out to him-ajfj. He-ajfj would recite to them, and there would be among his-ajfj conditions which he-ajfj would stipulate upon them that they would hand over to him-ajfj the one who had entered to them reneging from Al-Islam, and he-ajfj will not return to them the one who had gone out from them, desirous to Al-Islam. So when the letter is read out to them and they see this stipulated condition necessitated for them, they would expel them to him-ajfj. He-ajfj will kill the men and slit the bellies of the pregnant women and raise the crucifixes in the spears’. He-asws said: ‘By Allah-azwj! It is as if I-asws am looking at him-ajfj and to his-ajfj companions apportioning the Dinars at Al-Juhfa. Then Rome will become Muslim upon his-ajfj hand. He-ajfj will build a Masjid among them and appoint a man from his-ajfj companions upon them, then he-ajfj will leave’’.
21 When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, 22 I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.
Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from al-Abbas b. Ma`ruf from Abi Ishaq from al-Hasan b. Ziyad al-Attar. He said: I said to Abi Abdillah (a.s): The saying of the Messenger of Allah that “Fatima is the Mistress of the Women of the People of Paradise” – was she [only] the Mistress of the Women of her world? He said: That is Maryam. Fatima is the Mistress of the Women of the People of Paradise from the former and the latter peoples. So, I said: So, the saying of the Messenger of Allah (s) that “al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the two Masters of the Youth of Paradise”? He said: They are, by Allah, the two Masters of the Youth of Paradise from the former and the latter peoples.
23 Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 27 Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. 28 But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
