Memphis, TN - Well, thanks to some great medication my acute bronchitis has been whipped and I am feeling normal again (as normal as I have always been). Sue and I spent the weekend at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA so I could participate as a panel member at a Linebacker II symposium. For those unaware, Linebacker II was the B-52 bombing campaign targeting Hanoi and Haiphong and is credited by most people for bringing the North Vietnamese back to the table at the Paris Peace talks and eventually leading to the signing of the Paris Peace Accords resulting in the halt of hostilities and the freeing of our prisoners of war.
Lois Mozell Yates Watson

Lois Mozell Yates Watson, 90, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. She was one of nine children, and the youngest of three daughters born to Walter and Christine (Cosper) Yates. After attending elementary and high school in Heard County, GA, she graduated with a bachelor's degree from Berry College, Rome, GA. She did undergraduate work at Georgia State College for Women, Milledgeville, GA, and graduate work at the University of Georgia, Athens, University of Florida, Gainesville, and the University of Alabama and Huntsville and Tuscaloosa. She married Dr. Harry Jack Watson in 1950. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Hollin Yates, Merlin Yates, Ford Yates, Audrey Yates, Durell Yates, and Wheeler Yates; and sisters, Wilma Y. Kelley, and Maybell Y. Burgess.
Lois was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Women's Missionary Union, National Biological Association and Phi Delta Kappa, Educational honorary educational fraternity, and Aircraft Owners Pilot Association, (AOPA). She taught Human Physiology at Lee High School. She enjoyed gardening, needle point, traveling, fishing, and piloting their Cessna 182 Skyline Airplane. Both she and her late husband were licensed pilots. A graveside service will be at 12 noon Thursday, November 30, at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Seanor officiating. Tommy, great decision on the emergency room trip - Smart man!!!! I don’t mean to sound surprised but considering that you are Soooooooo much older than those of us from the class of 66 your actions are quite impressive! (Kidding, of course! Thanks for being so wise because we would greatly miss you and the Traveler if you became sick.)

Speaking of ghost, and I’d rather describe that entity as an “energy,” don’t usually appear from animal remains. I have been told its because an animal has no soul. But I have had a number of experiences over the years not to discount the presents of a person past. I think I have told the story of my namesake, a young man of 19, Joel Duncan Adkison, killed in the Battle of Atlanta. I don’t know all the history of Sherman’s March through Atlanta but the major battle was at Ezra Church on the west side and just north of I-20. Might be interesting to go there and just walk around. Don’t know how much of the battle history is displayed there. But as you move around and something seems to take hold of your shoulders, and gives you what Popeye often described as “shiver me timbers,” you are probably in its presents. I’d like to go search those grave sites to see just what might turn up…or over!

I've just read "The Traveller" and was so sorry to learn that you'd both been sick, especially with out-of-town family in the house. Please never apologize to us for the "paper" being late, at least what you consider late. On the contrary, we should thank you for each issue that arrives, whenever it arrives, enabling us to stay in touch with one another and remembering those halcyon days of our teen-aged years. 'Hope you're both much on the mend, and I'll look forward to staying in touch as we move through "the season"!
