        Memphis, TN -  March Madness is upon us once more and I am looking forward to sitting in front of the TV for hours on end watching the games. 

        This week we are getting the word out early for several upcoming events.

        It is still over a month away, but it is not too early for everyone to save the date for our next Lee Lunch Bunch. Please mark your calendars for the last Thursday of April, and do plan to join us. We have not met since right before our big 50th reunion, so we have a lot of catching up to do. Also, it will be a good time for many of the '66 bunch to touch base about their upcoming 50th celebration. As always, please let me know if you plan to come so we can give Logan’s an accurate number. They do require this in order to let us keep reserving the nice fireplace room at their restaurant.

Jim McBride, LHS '65, to Perform at Slawburger Festival

        Greg Mitchell posted : I'm stoked over our show at the Arts Center as part of the Slawburger Festival on 16 April. Not only did we get a great lineup of songwriters with Jim Parker and Jim McBride, but now we've added singer/songwriter/recording artist Brice Long!! But wait....there's more. Performing in our noon slot is international finger style and thumb picking guitar champion Shane Adkins! The rest of us will be filling in with our performances throughout the day so come prepared to make a day of it with the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Arts League!!!         Bulletin: Monday February 22nd is the release date for Gene Watson's new CD entitled "Real Country Music". This is the Album I have waited on for nearly forty years. Why, you may ask, are you so excited? Because, I have a real life genuine Gene Watson cut on this cd! A "cut", for you unfamiliar with music biz lingo, means the Great Gene Watson actually went into a studio with some of the greatest studio musicians on earth and recorded one of my songs for this album. If you purport to be a traditional country music songwriter, you must at some point in your career, get a Gene Watson cut. Better late than never. I have mine and I am thrilled. To hear that voice singing something I wrote is what it's always been about for me. The song he recorded/cut, is entitled "A Bridge That Just Won't Burn". I co-wrote it with Roger Murrah and (since I don't believe he is on facebook) I did most of the work on it.smile emoticon Conway Twitty recorded it in late 1980 and it was the first hit record for both of us, not me and Conway, me and Roger. That song brought me to Music Row. Thank you Gene Watson for pulling out an oldie and making another dream come true for me. It's a great album. Buy one or two. Thank you for your time. Out.
