This course provides the Generating Unit Controller/Control Room Operator with sound knowledge in the theory and practice of the operation and control of power generating plants. It covers conventional fossil fuel plants with boilers and steam turbines, gas turbine, combined cycle and diesel engine plants. The course also covers such areas as plant safety procedures, communications protocols, fuel handling, plant start up, operation and shut down, plant monitoring and data logging, emergency response procedures, water handling and purification operations, plant chemistry processes, plant troubleshooting procedures and control room operations.
