WIOA: IN SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM (ISY)
What is an In-School Youth Program?
The In-School Youth program, ISY, is an after school program funded by Department of Youth and Community Development, DYCD. ISY is a three years commitment, participants are interviewed and recruited during the beginning of their junior year of high school. The program actively promotes career and academic growth for participants based on what year they in. Juniors and seniors will receive in house guidance on College Exploration, and Career Readiness through paid and non-paid internships to gain work experience, while college freshmen will benefit from monthly follow ups and networking opportunities. Daily enrichment workshops are held at ISY locations with various topics such as Healthy Life Skills, Leadership Development, Community Services, College Readiness, College Exploration, Financial Literacy and Summer Employment.
Workshop curriculum includes:
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Mock interviews
- Explore different career options
- Browse different job hunting sites
- Participate in community services
- In city and out of city College visits
- Professional development and social gatherings
- Make new friends!
