This was the first overnight college trip of the 2017-2018 ISY year and it did not disappoint! ISY participants had the chance to visit Syracuse University, Cornell University, and Binghamton University. Ranging from private colleges to SUNY's to Ivy leagues, this trip gave the ISY participants a view on the different types of colleges.
Syracuse was the first stop. ISY participants toured, ate, and attended an information session. It was a mini-college experience where the information session was similar to a class, the tour was going from one class to another, and eating at the dining hall was comparable to lunch. Next, the picture on the right is of the Syracuse Library Carnegie Library, and the one to the left is of the residence building called Tolley hall. These were some of the buildings that stood out to ISY participants during the Syracuse tour.
Cornell University was the second college ISY participants visited. At Cornell, they went to an information session to learn more about the university from both admissions officers and current students. They had the opportunity to learn more about the application process and the different colleges in Cornell University.
After, the ISY participants split up into groups and were led by Cornell students, who volunteered to give tours. The tour consisted of going by all the colleges in Cornell, where the tour guides briefly explained what each one had to offer. Also, the ISY participants had the chance to see the huge campus and it's historic landmarks, such as the McGraw tower.
The last college ISY participants visited on the trip was Binghamton University. Binghamton is a top SUNY college and many ISY participants were excited to visit it. The participants went on tours throughout the campus and got to see the different type of dorms Binghamton had to offer. The college had a lot of great-quality facilities to offer, while also appealing as a great school in terms of academics.
To sum it up, this ISY overnight college trip was a great one. ISY participants had the chance to tour some of the best colleges in NYC that many of them might be applying to, but they also had the opportunity to socialize with their fellow ISY peers. The trip really offered great tours, fun times, and many of the ISY participants can't wait until the next ISY overnight college trip.
