Isaiah 9:6-7
Jesus and the Father Are One
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
The Trinity is a belief that there is One True Living God in Three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...And These Three Persons are All Divine...The actual word Trinity is not in any of the verses of Scripture, but the idea and mention of three - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are in the Bible...
In the very beginning of Genesis, we read about the Spirit of God in the second verse of the Bible...So we quickly see the Great Mystery surrounding our Father...Some believe the Spirit of God is the Holy Spirit, while others believe it is the Creative Powers of God, and some believe it is Something Else about our Father...But regardless the Spirit of God in Genesis affirms the importance of God's Spirit in creation...The Spirit of God is the source of all life and creativity, and without the Spirit, creation would not be possible...In regards to God and Spirit, Jesus told the Samaritan woman that a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks...God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in Truth...
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus commands after His death and resurrection for His Eleven remaining Disciples to go forward with the Great Commission...Jesus came to them in Galilee and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me...Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...And surely I AM with you always, to the very end of the age.”...Since Jesus said this it seems to tell us that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are equally Divine...
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says the He and the Father are One...Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father...Believe Me that I AM in the Father and the Father is in Me...That they may all be One, just as You, Father, are in Me and I AM in You (God), so that they also may be in Us, in order that the world may believe that You (God) sent Me...These Words of Jesus are Divine Words, even though Jesus is Fully Human...Jesus also says when the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you...And when the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of Truth who goes out from the Father—He will testify about Me...And you also must testify, for you have been with Me from the beginning...
In Luke's Book of Acts, the Holy Spirit is also described as being God in the Bible...Peter says to Ananias, "Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?... You have not lied to men but to God" (Acts 5:3-4)...This seems that the Holy Spirit is not simply just a force or a Spirit, but a Person who is Equally Divine with the Father and the Son...And thus Peter asks why did you lie to God's Holy Spirit...
The Great Prophet Isaiah wrote for unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders...And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace...Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end...He will reign on David’s throne and over His Kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever...The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this...Some read this Scripture by the Prophet of Isaiah as Jesus being the Child of the Mighty God, and the Everlasting Father as the Holy Spirit, indwelt in all of us...
The Trinity was developed and supported by early church theologians in order to explain the relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit...Followers of Jesus believe in the Trinity as we read the different verses about God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit...
So as one reads the above verse, we can see how the Trinity came into man's thinking...There is these verses and others, of course, of the Holy Spirit, and of Jesus, and His Father and their Special Relationship...We also see the Great Mystery of God, in trying to understand Him, His Son, and His Holy Spirit...We can understand better how Jesus' Special Relationship with His Father and His Father giving Him all the authority that He had on earth, and the power to do miracles and how Jesus and the Father are One...We also better see the Trinity and how it came into being...
