Isaiah 55:8-11
God's Thoughts and Ways Are Not Man's Ways
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
God has perfect timing...His timing tells us something about who He is...What comes out of His mouth never returns empty...What He says gets accomplished...God's Will always gets done...And we must remember that God is eternal, and time does not affect Him at all...
But we would like our prayers to be answered immediately...And sometimes more than that, we want visible answers to our prayers, in a quick way...We also would like never to suffer any anguish, but these are not things that God does...He often remains silent to us...There is this stillness about Him...And really we often want to know why He is silent and still...But often God is silent and there is patience in His answers to our prayers and what He does...If we believe that His will always gets done, we can see and believe His timing is always right...All these things (and many other things) make God a Great Mystery...
Pastor Craig Barnes says, “God is often silent when we prefer that he speak and He interrupts us when we prefer that he stay silent...His ways are not our ways...To live with the sacred God of creation means that we conduct our lives with a God who does not explain Himself to us...It means that we worship a God who is often mysterious - too mysterious to fit our formulas for better living...It means that God is not our best friend our secret lover or our good-luck charm...He is God.”...
