Genesis 3:8-13
In the Garden
8 The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God.9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Isaiah 59:1-2
Sin Separates Us from God
1 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.
In these two verses we are told of the first man and woman hiding from the LORD...They are hiding because they sinned...The evil one seems to have tricked them into eating the forbidden fruit and sinning...We are later told by the Prophet Isaiah, we are separated from the LORD because of our sins and inequities...The day the first two humans felt they had to hide from their own Creator and Father was a sad, very sad day indeed...There could not be many days in the history of mankind, that can be sadder than this...Embarrassed, and deep feelings of guilt -from the sin they had done...The consequences would be enormous...They would have to leave Paradise...
God had developed the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve...We are not told how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden...I imagine Adam and Eve could feel the Presence of God in the Garden...Previous to them sinning they may have greeted the LORD, when He came to them...Previous to this, they probably ran to their Father and His Presence...Before they sinned, they had no reason to hide, and they enjoyed everything and every place in Paradise...Paradise surely felt so great, and well like Paradise...A peace that would permeate through the entire body, mind, and soul...So much changed after man sinned and gained his sinful nature...Man and woman were now hiding from the Greatest Being and Entity, their Creator and their Father...Sin causes us to be hidden and separated from the LORD...A life and the times we are away and hidden from God are not the best of times...
I would like to see or feel the Presence of God, but I know my sinful nature gets in the way...I have many inequities...I can only get to Him, if He lets me...I am not knowledgeable or wise enough to find His Presence...I want to get back to the Garden with Him to feel His Presence and be like it was before our fall from grace...He is a forgiving Father, and we are His children...He Loves us and has great mercy, and one day we will be back with Him...
