Isaiah 40:28-31
Tired and Weary
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Matthew 11:25-30
Rest for the Weary
25At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
27"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Isaiah teaches us when we are tired and weary, we should seek God...The LORD is our everlasting God...He created the beginnings and ends of the earth...He will not grow tired and weary and His understanding no one can fathom...He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak...Even youths can grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those of us who hope in the LORD will renew their strength...Those who hope in the LORD will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint...
Jesus teaches us that God, our Father, the LORD of heaven and earth, has hidden many things from the wise and the learned, and has revealed them to little children...Jesus then says "yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure."...For these things Jesus gives God praise... All things are committed to Jesus by God the Father...No one knows the Father except the Son, and no one knows the Father, except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him...
Then Jesus tells us if we are tired and weary and burdened (from anything), He will give us rest...If we take His yoke and learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart, and we will find rest for our souls...For His yoke is easy and His burden is light...
We can grow tired and weary from many things...We can grow tired and weary from our job, our family, our friends, an illness, an accident, anxieties, and many other things...Isaiah and Jesus tells us to first seek God when we are tired and exhausted...We should seek Him when we are burdened and grow tired and weary in any of these things and are tired and exhausted...He will give us rest...He will renew our strengths, and then we can soar on eagles, after this renewal...And after this renewal we will be able to run and not grow weary...We will be able to walk and not be faint...He renews us...
