Some Pokémon hold items, like Cubone and its bone club or a Farfetch’d and its leek. Could they hold other items as well? The answer is yes! However, the item they hold should try to be somewhat similar if possible, especially if it is a large feature of the Pokemon (as with Flabebe).
Some examples are as follows:
A Braixen usually holds a stick wand, but it could hold a star wand instead.
Gurdurr could hold logs instead of metal beams.
Flebebe could hold a different sort of flower*.
*As a pokemon evolves, to keep these changes an item may be required, depending on the change and pokemon. (ex, Florges being a different flower would need an item)
Both of these are things we don't mind giving members freedom with. Freckles should still be somewhat minimal, and in a color that makes sense for the Pokemon, but are allowed. Pokemon may also have fluffier tufts of fur, or shorter fur if desired. Extreme shifts to a Pokemon's core design could still have a modification item requested, but in general things like this are allowed.
Some examples:
A Furfrou's hairstyle adjusted using inspiration from the variations on the Pokemon seen in game (this includes the dye colors available in game already as well)
Freckles added to a Charmander's cheeks in a reddish-orange or brown hue.
A shaggy Growlithe or a trimmed, sleeker looking Primape.
Pokemon can be given accessories like hair clips, scarves, hats, bowties, etc without any modification required. After all, who doesn't want to dress up their pets on occasion?
These changes are all also allowed without needing an item:
eye color
scars
healed injuries/disabilities
Have the Pokemon be 20% larger or 20% smaller than their standard size (Multiply or Divide by 1.20 (for 20%, 1.07 for 7% etc.) to check the possible sizes.)
All of these items require a design to be submitted via a note to request mod approval. Mods will review the design and get back to you as quickly as possible (generally not too long) with either approval to use the item, or notes for slight adjustments to make the changes fall within the rules.
If a visual is not something a member can easily do, a detailed written description of the desired change can be used.
Please bear in mind that visual references are easier to see to get an idea of what a member might mean. Mods may request a simple sketch or doodle to show the example if we are unclear of what the desired change would look like from a written description.
It does not have to be a clean, fully rendered example, just something to give us the idea. A recolored or drawn-on official picture works just fine as well!
A small kit that helps dye a Pokémon varying shades of the same color.
Two kits can be applied for one additional color.
Ideally, members might submit a swatch of the colors used alongside the design to demonstrate the hue shifts, but this is not required.
A fun little device that allows the user to place patterns not typically found on a certain Pokémon, though only over small areas.
The pattern could be stripes, spots (larger or more numerous than freckles without an item), or specific custom markings a member might want. It should only change less than 25% of the Pokemon's overall design.
Two Pattern Stamps can be used to apply a second pattern, or more of the same, but should still change less than 50% of the design.
A strange device that, when used on a Pokémon, allows the user to make small physical adjustments to the overall silhouette of the Pokémon.
This could be used to make a Pokemon notably smaller or larger than normal, adjust the shape or size of horns or tails, etc.
Two changes can be made with a second application of the Wizard's Lens.
Certainly the most expensive of the modification items, the mod stone is used to make changes that fall within more than one of the above smaller changes, or are even further than what those items may allow by themselves. With a Mod Stone, your Pokemon may increase in size, have new patterns, become several different colors, all at the same time.
These heavy changes can go as far as to give a Pokemon an additional head! While this is based on a real life condition that works better for reptiles or humans even, but negatively for other mammals, we request that the Pokemon you would like to give an additional head to is not in agony or has a drastically shortened life span because of this.
Modded Ditto Rules:
Modded Dittos are restricted to only be able to transform into their owner, and the Pokemon in the owners inventory. In turn, you do not need to send in design checks for every single form, as long as you stick to the modded colors.
Harvest Lunatone has a basic guide for modding pokemon, which can be found below. There may be more in the future, so be sure to check back! As always, if there are ever any questions, please feel free to reach out to the mod team via notes or a ticket on discord.
Some people like to make Pokemon look more realistic. Perhaps a member would like to depict Miltank on two legs, or would rather it resemble a real world animal counterpart. They might enjoy exploring just how the Pokemon might look if it were actually walking before their very eyes?
This is something that is allowed in the group!
So long as it remains recognizable as the Pokemon, realism for Pokemon designs is perfectly fine.
Another example might be a more realistic Skiploom. It could have something other than nubs (as long as they were the right length), a beak like face, beady eyes, and petals that are ruffled. It would still very much be a Skiploom despite a somewhat less cartoony nature.
Sometimes it is best to note the group if you are unsure your realistic representation is going too far. If you are confident, you can submit the Pokemon to the group. If it trips the mods up and confuses us at first, we may contact you to make some slight alterations and work along side you to make it fit to the group. However, if it is accepted, then you know that everything is okay!
