There are other types of characters you might see around the islands: "Ghosts", merfolk, Mega-Pokémon and Gmax-Pokémon.
Ghosts refer to a special type of ghost-aspect character. While most characters are alive, some characters may be a little less so!
There are two types of Ghost Aspects in Harvest Lunatone: Ghost-types, whose title is self-explanatory; and 'Dead' Ghosts- characters who have passed on but their spirits linger.
All 'Dead' ghosts are restricted to ghost type-Aspects (primary and secondary typings). Their backstories must still adhere to the rules of character creation!
'Dead' ghosts, during Cirque de la Lune and other Aspect changing events are still restricted to ghost-type Aspects.
'Dead' ghosts can be brought back to life using a Power Revive. A living character can become a 'Dead' Ghost using Giratina's Blessing. Crafting details for both items can be found on Lillith's Recipe Board.
The ability for a Dead Ghost character to sire or bear children is up to individual member's choice.
Dead Ghosts are allowed small floating details for free in comparison to their alive friends. Floating hands or a floating head, or a lack of knees/elbows is all good to go AS LONG AS the Pokemon itself has this (for example, Blacephalon's floating head). Anything greater than a missing joint or neck and the Dead Ghost would need an Awakening Orb.
The rarest of gijinka appearances is merfolk, a gijinka perfectly adapted for aquatic life. Unlike the previous types of characters, these characters can only be obtained with the use of a MerOrb. All water type aspects (and some exceptions) can be capable of this phenomenon, and on land they can walk with two legs if you so choose!
You can create a merfolk character if you have a MerOrb in your possession.
Merpeople will be more harshly critiqued than the ordinary application. This means we expect a good deal of detail and culture in your application.
There is no set 'lore' on merfolk and their culture. They can come from a reclusive colony in the middle of the Ocean or a high tech underwater city who are a land dweller tourist hot spot. It's all up to you.
The following information should be addressed on your merperson's app (whether in the history section or tidbits is up to you!)
How would your merfolk travel on land if they leave the water? Do they magically have legs when dried off, use a mount, have a specialized wheelchair or something else?
While we do not have set limitations on how long a merperson can stay on land, if they are out of water for too long they must rehydrate. How would your character do so? Do they use their moves to moisturize? Do they have Pokémon that assist them? Do they take frequent showers? Keep in mind that an eel won't be judged the same way a goldfish might
How would your merfolk communicate with their fellow sea dwellers underwater? Via sign-language? Or Whale-esque sounds? Something else?
What is your merperson's relation to land dwellers? Are they cautious and keep to themselves despite finding themselves on Raccolto? Have they lived among them all their life?
What aspect can a merperson be, you ask? Any water pokemon is an option! There are also a few additional pokemon who are not water types but do have associations with water that can be options. Those will be listed below. If there are any not on this list that you might be interested in using as a merfolk, please feel free to reach out to the mod team and it can be discussed!
Merfolk do not have to follow a "generic tail" design, which means a long tail with a flipper at the end. Octillery merfolk may have tentacles as a tail. Squirtle or Sobble could have seahorse-like curled tails. As long as it makes sense for the Aspect they possess, you may design their tail accordingly.
Merfolk may walk on land on their own through magical means, if you choose. Mounts or vehicles such as wheelchairs could also be used for them to move on land if you prefer not to have your merfolk possess legs at any point. Merfolk legs can be more akin to pokemon legs with scales, etc if desired, as though they were using the Awakening Orb. This is to account for the fact that the Awakening Orb may not be used on Merfolk since they are already at the 50% mark.
To account for the size of their tail, merpeople are allowed to be taller than land-walking gijinka. However, they must still remain between 4 ft and 8 ft from head to tail.
Merfolk, during Cirque de la Lune will be given random aspects from the selection of water type Pokémon and the list below.
Merpeople can have children with non-merpeople, but the children will be born with normal aspects. Two merpeople can still have a mer-child.
If your character has been born as a merfolk and they entered the group as a Merfolk, they are eligible for free Merfolk NPCs.
If your history for a character mentions them being born as merperson, but they enter the group as normal land walking gijinka. They will not benefit from getting free Merfolk NPCs, instead Pretty Feathers need to be used for NPC creation.
A list of acceptable merfolk aspects that are not water types is as follows:
Anorith --> Armaldo
Arctozolt
Azurill
Bergmite --> Avalugg
Clobbopus --> Graploct
Cubchoo --> Beartic
Dhelmise
Dragalge

Mega forms or gmax forms of your aspect Pokémon are acquired by the use of Megastones or Gigantamax Curry.
Paradox and Ultra Beast Pokemon Aspects are acquired via the Ultra-Paradox Clock Item.
These Pokémon forms during Cirque de la Lune are restricted to other mega forms, gmax, or paradox forms. They will be given random aspects from the pool of applicable Pokémon. However, aspect-swap events separate from the circus may allow non-mega/gmax/paradox aspects.
Options for Ultra Beasts and Paradox are as follows:
Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, Great Tusk, Scream Tail, Brute Bonnet, Flutter Mane, Slither Wing, Sandy Shocks, Roaring Moon, Iron Treads, Iron Bundle, Iron Hands, Iron Jugulis, Iron Moth, Iron Thorns, Iron Valiant.
The Awakening Orb allows you to give your residents more than the standard percentage of Pokemon traits– up to 50%!
Click here for a guide to how the Awakening Orb works.
The Awakening Orb can be crafted (you might’ve noticed it on the recipe board) or the effects of the Awakening Orb can be obtained through a special journey known as the Journey to Awakening! A crafted Awakening Orb can be gifted to other characters, however, if your character completes the Journey to Awakening, only they can gain the effect of the Awakening Orb.
In order to gain the effects of the Awakening Orb through the Journey to Awakening, you must…
Draw or write three submissions depicting your character exploring their identity. This can be done through self-reflection, visiting the Divine Spring, or spending time in nature with Pokemon.
Each submission must be fully shaded with a simple scene background or be a minimum of 1,500 words.
As long as minimum requirments are met again, the three submissions needed can be combined into a single one (Example. A Comic or Collage with 3 Panels. Writing of 4500 words)
Once you’ve completed all three submissions, note the group with links to each submission and your statement that you wish to Awaken your character. Please also provide a reference of their Awakened form for us to check and approve. This can be just a colored sketch, if you’d like.
Once your character’s Awakened form is approved, they will be marked as Awakened and you can depict them in their new Awakened form in all further submissions!
After your design has been approved you are allowed to showcase your character gradually gaining their Awakened Traits if you want.
Remember: this form is permanent and cannot be switched on and off. The only way to reverse the effects of the Awakening Orb/Journey to Awakening is to visit the Divine Spring and ask the Harvest Goddess through a wish.
