THE MINES
THE MINES
Adventurous people have come from all over to try their mettle in the caves hidden underneath the whole of Raccolto-- and this cave system’s only entrance lies close to Amusement Archipelago’s waterfall. Sadly, most of the caves remain blocked off. They can only be opened up by exploration. Cave exploration is used to find items and unlock most pokemon for characters to obtain.
Want to explore the caves? All you need to do is create a submission for the group that shows your character exploring the cave in some way.
Cave Art Requirements
Visual art requires, minimally, flat colors for the subject and a simple scene including your resident; written submissions require at least 500 words.
Complete, clean, roleplay logs may also count for cave exploration. Every RP participant needs to contribute at least 250 words.
Members can use and progress as many of their characters as they desire, however they will only recieve one item. Minimum requirements will not change for the individual member if multiple characters are used. Minimum requirements will only increase if an RP/ Collab happens. Individual members can still use multiple characters during/for RPs and Collabs.
All collaborations will count towards all participants’ cave statuses, and to the members receiving an item.
You may not skip cave levels! All members are required to progress each of their individual characters through the caves starting from Cave 1.
You can do multiple cave entries in one image, rp, or written post, so long as each level is clearly stated and meets the minimum requirements.
Each submission you create for the caves earns your character PD just like all other submissions to the group. Additionally, your character will find one item while exploring. Evolutionary stones, ores, and other rare objects may be obtained this way. Each cave level introduces new items to randomly find, with deeper caves holding more valuable items.
Cave levels may be explored more than once per character. Randomized rewards are still available for re-exploration & given for every cave submission.
If you were to do a comic you would gain one item every panel that meets minimum requirements. If you were to do writing, you would gain one item every 500 words. If you were to do a RP, all participants would gain one item every 500 (2 people), 750 (3 people) or 1000 words (4 people).
Black Brew Charges are used every reward. If you were to submit something that would earn you 20 items, only as many items as you have Black Brew Charges left would be doubled
3 or 4 member collab submissions earn 2 items (the dice gets rolled twice). The Black Bubbling Brew does not work on collab submissions.
To unlock a Pokémon type, you must first have your character explore the caves. Remember, they must be explored in order. Then you may capture a first stage Pokémon that is not on the exclusion list, anywhere you please! Be sure to follow the guidelines for Pokémon capture.
Foreign Pokémon
While Raccolto has a plethora of wildlife, it does not have all the Pokémon known to the Pokedex! These foreign Pokémon cannot be found in the local mines. They can be found on the other islands: Snowfall Inlet, Clamperl Cove, Cin City, and Astray Isle.
Below are the Pokémon that cannot be found in the mines:
All Alola (Gen 7, found on Snowfall Inlet and Clamperl Cove)
All Galar (Gen 8, found in Cin City)
All Paldea (Gen 9, found on Astray Isle)*
Paradox Pokemon are found in the Space-Time Catacombs at the end of the mines, alongside the Hisuian pokemon
Special cases
Ultra Beasts require two interactions and a Safari Ball, but they can be caught anywhere in Raccolto, including the mines.
Normal, Bug, Grass, and Water Pokemon
Overgrown with algae and fungi, the first level of the mines has many openings to the surface that allow in enough light for plants to flourish. Waterways snake throughout this level and underground lakes can be found in larger chambers. Stalactites and stalagmites span from ceiling to floors after years of the moist environment.
Ground, Rock, Fire, and Steel Pokemon
Things get more than steamy on this level of the mines! Thick with smoke, molten magma sits in dangerous lakes and roams in deadly streams through the low roofed caverns. Passages so tight prove to be an obstacle for even the smallest person, and many times people report having run into dead ends or accidentally stepping into a ground-type's burrow.
Flying, Ice, Electric, and Fighting Pokemon
Cathedral chambers rule this level of the mines, with ceilings so high they occasionally break to the surface and allow in the rare natural light. From these rare windows to the surface fighting Pokemon gather to brawl in the glow of the spotlight. Delving lower into the caverns, smaller chambers are slick with ancient ice.
Poison, Dark, Dragon and *Psychic Pokemon
High chambers from the mine above have condensed into low roofed caverns. The caves are nearly pitch black but for hovering rocks and boulders which glow with psychic energy. Vents are littered throughout this level of the mines. From these pump poisonous gases which find openings to ventilate to upper levels.
Fairy and Ghost Pokemon, and Unown
These caverns appear to have once been the home of ancient Raccolto people. Dwellings have been carved into the cave walls and fragments of their lives can be found petrified and preserved in time. At the end of the subterranean village is an old Harvest Goddess spring, her statue long worn and hardly distinguishable. Fairies play beside the spring, while ghosts of the old life haunt the ancient homes.
Hisuian Forms, and Paradox Pokemon*
Ancient, war-torn ruins are scattered about this level of the mine that whispers tales of eras lost to history. Shattered sculptures of what is believed to be the Harvest God seemingly stand guard over worlds laid to rest beyond the reaches of time. Small pockets within space ripple apart every so often, bringing forth Pokémon that were once thought to have gone extinct or have yet to exist. They now traverse these ruins as residents of the present day.
*A character can catch and or own only two Paradox Pokemon. They cannot be used in any line of work.
