Now look here, guys and gals: we take our town's laws very seriously. We don't want to be party poopers, but we don't want our nice little town to have havoc wreaked upon it either. So please keep these rules in mind while you're out and about in Raccolto.
Respect
All members of our community are expected to treat one another with basic respect and courtesy - members and mods alike. We ask that everyone try to hold patience and understanding, particularly when you may not understand another person's viewpoint or tone, and try to help one another out when the need arises. Intentionally putting other members down, making baseless accusations, instigating and/or maintaining conflict, disrespecting boundaries, disrespecting someone based on culture or personal views and general negative behaviour directed at one another will not be tolerated and will see consequences.
Moderators offer up their free time, oftentimes around full time jobs and other responsibilities, to try and maintain a space for you that is fun, engaging, and an escape from reality for a while. We may not always get things right, and are always happy to take valid criticisms where necessary, but remind people to maintain the rules about respect when engaging with the team, as we will do with you. We try not to get too involved in minor disputes, as we respect our predominantly adult userbase to handle themselves, but in the event that a moderator does have to step in to shut down a conversation, it is non-negotiable. Failure to comply will result in consequences. The less time we have to spend policing chats or engaging in damage control, the more time we have to work on new content for the group!
Wherever an issue arises that is more personal in nature, where another member may be involved, where a member feels unsafe or generally wishes to contact mods about anything that might be going on, there are a couple of ways to do so:
The quickest method is to raise a ticket (on the Discord) with the team. All mods are automatically added to each ticket thread, where we are able to have a direct and ongoing conversation.
If you are uncomfortable with this, or wish for a particular mod to not be included in the conversation, you can contact us via a note (or a trusted mod, privately - with permission) to ask to have a ticket opened on your behalf that only contains people you are comfortable with. You are also welcome to request to have another member added to a ticket at any time, for any reason.
You may send a note! However, this can take longer to receive a response as they are not checked nor processed daily.
You can send in a report! This can be done anonymously, if you would prefer - though we ask you to note that anonymous reports oftentimes do not receive a direct response and so you may not be updated on any progress made with your concern. We can guarantee that every report is checked and discussed by mods behind the scene.
Members are not allowed to operate on multiple accounts. Anyone found to be cheating the system this way will receive a double-strike, and all but one of the accounts will be banned.
Please keep submissions and chat content appropriate. Currently, we operate under a policy of general PG-13 ruling (though a more clear guideline on this is due to be released soon!). Any content or chatter that breaches these guidelines is subject to be deleted by moderators, and may result in consequences for the user on a case-by-case basis. If members come across content or chatter that they believe breaches these guidelines, or generally makes them uncomfortable, we encourage them to contact the mod team.
Artwork and writings submitted must be your own. Tracing, art theft, copying, claiming someone else's work as your own (including paid words) and the use of generative AI content is strictly prohibited and will result in a strike and potentially other consequences.
Sharing private data of your own is discouraged and if ever we feel that someone is putting themselves at risk with the information they are sharing, moderators reserve the right to delete any message containing such details. Sharing photos (faces, in particular) of other people without their knowledge or consent is prohibited and may result in consequences. Sharing photos of children is strictly prohibited, as a safeguarding issue, and will be removed with appropriate consequences given. Blurring faces and personal details may be permissible, but we also encourage all members to ask themselves if they really need to be sharing personal details at all.
Activity Checks are completed on a six-monthly basis. Any submission processed in that times earns you an activity marker, and anyone missing theirs by Activity Check will be given the opportunity to earn theirs. No activity = group removal!
No spamming of text, emotes, stickers or gifs in the chat. A little bit of goofing around is always welcome, but the chat should not be dominated by such behaviour to the point that other conversation becomes impossible.
Whilst cursing/moderately crass language is allowed, we ask that this not be used excessively or at the detriment to other members. Slurs and insults aimed at other members are strictly prohibited.
In-character content should be kept to the relevant channels (roleplay and headcanon channels/threads) so that the out-of-character chats are reserved for general chatter.
A little bit of venting is allowed, but please try not to dampen the mood in a chat too much, out of courtesy for others. If someone asks to move the topic along to something lighter, the conversation must come to an end at that point*.
Messages that contain potentially sensitive, uncomfortable or triggering content (text, images, links to outside sources, etc) must always contain a spoiler cover with a warning attached as to what the spoiler is pertaining to (unless the general context of the rest of the message makes the spoiled content explicitly clear without saying it). If someone is uncomfortable with a topic or asks to move it along, this must always be adhered to.
*exceptions may come into play here during times of genuine disaster or strife so that members can update on their wellbeing, share or request advice, or share/advocate for fundraising efforts in the appropriate channel.
Only interact with members or characters who have given consent. Do not assume control of another person's character for any reason, unless consent is expressly given (and may also be expressly and immediately revoked).
Adding onto the above, godmodding or any kind is strictly prohibited.
Do not use the roleplay or headcanon channels for general chatter. Responding to each other's headcanons in threads is okay, but do not take up too much space with chatter that could be taken elsewhere.
Violent attacks on, or the attempted killing of, someone else's character is strictly not allowed in the main chat, even with permission. What you do in private is up to you, but this kind of content cannot be submitted via the regular channels and must be redirected to the appropriate Eclipse channels.
In general, any content that falls outside the remit of our age rating guidelines must be kept to private chats, or the eclipse server.
Much like art and writing, your RP posts must be written by yourself. You may not use generative AI to write roleplay responses.
Respect your partner's boundaries at all times, and be communicative with one another.
As stated previously, all submitted works must be your own (with the lone caveat that application images and Cirque/Isle Comp Refs may be commissions or gifted artworks - but these cannot be submitted for rewards). This means no tracing, no theft and no use of bases or generative content to produce artworks or writing.
Whilst referencing is allowed from photo or stock sources intended for that purpose, we encourage people to ensure they keep behind the boundary of referencing and do not cross over into tracing territory. Ideally, references that are used particularly heavily in a piece should be provided in the caption for transparency.
The only instance in which "tracing" might be permissible is in the event that a member is tracing over a 3D model in an art programme for anatomy, or tracing over a photo reference of their own making (a selfie, a photo you took yourself, etc.) Tracing other people's work is never permissible.
If you are found to have broken any of the above rules, moderators reserve the right to delete the work and remove any rewards earned from submissions involving such works. You may also receive a strike or other consequences where we feel it appropriate, or where repeat offences occur.
Whilst you may share works of your character produced by other artists or members, you may not earn rewards for these pieces and they must not be submitted officially. However, if group members are producing artwork of each other's characters (paid or not), the original artist is entitled to submissions rewards and may submit those pieces themselves.
Age rating guidelines apply to all submitted works. Anything that falls outside of this remit must only be submitted via Eclipse, for the protection of other members.
Please note: winners from the previous year's contest events will not be able to participate for a win the year after, but may submit for rewards or fun!
Warning: Members may receive either a formal or an informal warning where conduct in the chat is in breach of the rules. An informal warning might look like a general reminder in the chat, at the time of a boundary being pushed or tensions rising, to revisit the rules. A formal warning will look like a DM directly from the Goddess Account, crafted by the entire mod team detailing what rule has been broken with a reminder to be courteous to other members. Neither action will result in further punishment, unless that member persists in their rule breaking.
Note that, in instances where the misconduct is too severe, this stage may be skipped altogether, as it is more of a friendly reminder than anything else.
Silencing: An uncommon practise, but moderators who feel that this is necessary may enact a temporary server mute on members where we feel it is appropriate. This would temporarily prevent a member from being able to send messages into any chat, and should be used as a time of reflection and self-regulation. Members who have been put onto a server mute will still be able to contact mods via the Goddess/Sprite accounts in DMs.
Server mutes will show a cooldown timer for the member, and where applicable, we will give you this information upfront (the only time this may not happen is in the event that we have had to put multiple people on a mute as a measure to stop a largescale dispute that got out of hand.)
Strike: A strike is issued either after the above steps have been seen through, or if the misconduct is considered serious enough to skip those stages altogether. A strike be issued to a member via a DM from the Goddess discord account, detailing the reason for the strike and any potential actions that need to be taken on the member's side.
Generally, we operate on a "three strikes and you're out" policy, where strikes remain on file for a minimum of 12 months from the date of issues. However, moderators also reserve the right to maintain those strikes for longer, to issue multiple at one time, or to skip the Strike stage altogether where we feel that misconduct has been serious enough to warrant immediate removal from the group (usually if another member's safety is at risk, or where multiple egregious breaches have been made at one time or in rapid succession.)
Server/Group Ban: Banning will result in your immediate removal from the group and the server as a whole. This will usually be issued via a DM from the Goddess Discord. In the event of a ban, the mod team will take it upon ourselves to remove any character references or recent art posts from the server.
Where official Nintendo/Pokémon news or new game announcements or speculations have been made, it is required that members do not discuss these spoilers in the primary chats for any reason. We have a dedicated Spoiler Chat area for this, which you can request the @Spoiled Potatoes role for via the Nicknames + Role Selection chat in guest area.
Please note that this role is only available to registered group members, and not guests, at this time.
All conversation pertaining to Nintendo Direct streams that have recently aired are also required to be kept to the spoiler area, even if the news is not Pokémon-specific.
We would also generally ask that any conversations pertaining to spoilers for newly released movies, shows, etc that aren't necessarily Pokémon-related also be taken to this area, out of courtesy for other members. At the very least, where brief mentions are made in chat, these *must contain a spoiler over any titles or specific information. If another member requests for the chat to be ceased or moved (respectfully), then the conversation must end at that point and either be removed to personal DMs or the spoilers chat, in a dedicated forum thread.
More rules and help with how to use the Spoilers chats are available in that category once the role has been given.
As Generative AI gains popularity we would like to make clear that we do NOT allow Generative AI to be used in this group. This counts for writing as well as visuals.
What you do in private is none of our business but anything submitted that is created with GenAI cannot and will not be graded. We will treat it as submitting art/writing not created by you without proper credits given. This will result in a warning followed by a ban if the activity is not ceased.
Using the GenAI tool provided by Discord to remix pictures of other members will result in a ban from the server.
To clarify, tools like auto correct or syntax correction tools for writing and things like dust removals in visual programs are not affected by this.
