Thursdays rain gave us a rise in the water level, Friday morning the water was still coloured with a lot of weed etc making fishing very difficult. Things started to improve late afternoon and the water started dropping fast. On the Tarves beat, Mike Stewart landed a two-and-a-half-pound Sea Trout taken on an Arnadilly Fancy.

Very few anglers have been fishing the water, so there could be more fish out there. Today’s rain will possibly give us another small rise in the water with less weeds, hopefully this will entice some more Sea Trout into our beats, even maybe a pink salmon.

The more fish we catch and report this year will help us to provide proof that the Ythan is a category 2 river. Remember to keep a record of all your Salmon and Sea Trout landed this year for your returns report at the end of the season.
