Roll: Precise+Creative (18 or Threat[Ranged])
Range: 2
Effect: You attempt to hack causality in your favour, hastily rewriting probabilities and outcomes to suit your ends and defeat your enemies. This spell is cast against the Ranged Threat of an NPC, or has the target number of 18 if targeting a PC. If you cast this spell successfully, choose one of the following prophecies:
They will enjoy a glorious triumph. The target gains Advantage on all rolls they make for the duration of this spell
They will suffer a humiliating defeat. All rolls made to attack the target have Advantage for the duration of this spell
They will make a vital discovery. Double the target’s Astute for the duration of the spell.
If you fail to maintain this spell before the prophecy is fulfilled, or if the scene ends before the prophecy is fulfilled, the magical backlash of the universe righting itself causes you to gain 1d6 Strain (this cannot be prevented or reduced in any way).
Roll: Precise+Empathetic (Varies)
Range: 1
Effect: You may only cast this spell using your Reaction, casting it when another character makes a roll.
When you cast this spell, you force your will upon causality, grabbing the course of fate and wresting it to your desired end. You may cast this spell in one of two ways;
Whenever another player character makes an Aspect Roll, you can use your Reaction to cast this spell by making a Precise+Forceful Aspect roll of your own; you can do this any time before or after the results are known. When you cast the spell this way, your result overrides the result of their roll, whether it is better or worse.
Whenever an NPC Retaliates against another player, roll your Arcane Mastery, and add your Precise+Forceful to the result. If it is greater than the damage result (before the effects of armour and other factors are added to it), the damage is not dealt at all.
When you cast this spell, test your Arcane Mastery for each time you’ve cast it this Chapter.
Roll: Precise+Forceful (Melee threat)
Range: Intimate
Effect: Your hand is wreathed in the baleful energies of the inevitable as you reach out and touch your foe. Flesh withers, stone crumbles and metal rusts as you accelerate their progression towards their inevitable end.
This spell deals damage equal to your Arcane Mastery to the spell’s target. The spell saps and gnaws away at its target, and the next attack made against them has Advantage.
Roll: Precise+Defiant (20)
Range: Self
Effect: You temporarily delay fate, putting off the inevitable to finish whatever you need to finish. Using this power may grant you temporary protection, but Aera and Sentinel shall get what they are due. Sooner or later, they always do.
While this spell is active, you do not take damage from any source. Instead note down all damage that would affect you (factoring in things such as armour, protective abilities and Talents). When this spell ends, you take that damage - this cannot be prevented in any way.
Roll: Precise+Astute (22)
Range: Self
Effect: You concentrate on the future ahead, attempting to use the divine probability techniques perfected by Aera to narrow down the fragmenting and fracturing possibilities of tomorrow.
Choose three questions from the list below. The GM will answer them; they will answer two of these questions truthfully, but one of the answers will be a lie. Questions you can ask are:
What is the greatest threat ahead of us?
What is the easiest, safest route to our goal?
Who will we meet on our way who can help us?
Who will we meet on our way who will hinder us?
What tool or item will help us achieve our goal?
The GM is encouraged to be illustrative and evocative with these answers, giving images, sensations and snippets of diegetic speech rather than simple, direct answers; for example if the answer to ‘what is the greatest threat ahead of us’, the GM may answer that your character sees images of Ironmind worshippers, of a robed figure in a church built of black steel, carrying a staff with the Ironmind’s symbol upon, rather than simply saying ‘the greatest threat is an Iron Priest’.
Roll: Precise+Graceful (10)
Range: 4
Effect: This spell can only be cast using your reaction, when another character fails an aspect roll. If you cast it successfully, they gain Advantage on their roll. If you are critically successful when you cast it, they can also choose to reroll their d20 as well as add Advantage.
Roll: Precise+Ruthless (16)
Range: Close
Effect: You show the target of the spell a vision of its own death. While you are not privy to this information, the vision is starkly clear to them, and truly horrifying.
The target of the spell must use its next Retaliation to move away from you at its maximum possible speed. If you are Critically Successful, it uses its next two to do so instead.
