Outriders are the eyes and ears of Glowlander bands, able to range ahead on their own, gather intelligence on their enemies and return safely unseen. Swift, stealthy and lethal, Outriders are hunters, tracking down prey and treasures alike, able to pry out the secrets of the ice like a pearl from the oyster.
Class Goal - Prey: You hunt something particularly worthy. This could be a model of a machine, a species of deadly animal, or something more specific like a certain person or specific machine you wish to find. Whenever you take steps towards finding your prey, or when you catch them, mark experience.
Starting gear: You start with the following:
A musket, a crossbow or a bow
10 musket shots with powder, 10 crossbow bolts or 10 arrows
A hand weapon or two daggers
A suit of light armour
Starting Mastery: You start with Rank 2 Skill Mastery
Starting Proficiency: You start with proficiency in all weapons, light armour and medium armour
Class Ability - Lethal Shot: Whenever you are Critically Successful with a ranged attack, instead of dealing your skill damage you can choose instead to cause your target to lose a Wound. If you do so, test your Skill Mastery once.
Class Ability - Vital Intelligence: If an enemy is unaware of your presence, you may use an action to make an Astute+Precise (14) roll to study them. If you succeed, choose one:
Notice a weak point of a single enemy. The next attack you make against them has Advantage. If you are critically successful on this attack then you double the damage you deal.
You find out a useful piece of intelligence or something else handy. You may ask the GM two questions about the target you are studying, which they must answer truthfully.
This roll can be made when scoping out a location, shadowing someone or observing a single individual or group. If you fail the role, you are noticed by those you are observing.
If you are in combat, using this ability can provoke Retaliation unless Critically Successful, while outside of combat you have to deal with the consequences of being caught snooping
