Holographists are a strange bunch, even among Glowlanders. Outlaw imagists, historians who take field research to extreme lengths and seekers of ancient stories, Holographists soak in the world around them and use their memories to synthesise images and sounds in stunning detail. A Holographist uses the vitium within their bodies as their canvas, manipulating the tiny machines to create living pictures in the air.
Such people seem an ill fit among the other Glowlanders, but their insatiable thirst for inspiration and history means that many are natural thrillseekers, joining up with Glowlander bands to see what tall tales they can spin from their adventures.
Class Goal - Sublime Image: You seek to create a perfect image; a moment or tableau that is the pinnacle of your craft as a Holographist; and you are seeking inspiration. Outline what the image you seek to create is, what it embodies, acts as a metaphor for, or which emotion it provokes. Whenever you encounter something which inspires your sublime image or you use your experiences to further shape it, you tick off an experience box.
Starting gear: You start the game with the following:
A flintlock pistol
10 pistol shots with powder
A hand weapon
Light armour
Starting Mastery: You start the game with either Rank 2 Arcane Mastery or Rank 2 Skill Mastery
Starting Proficiency: You start the game proficient in daggers, hand weapons, pistols, muskets, bows, crossbows and light armour
Class Ability - Realise the Unreal: You can use the Vitium in your body to project images and alter your appearance. When you wish to project an image, roll Creative+Precise (10). This creates an image roughly the size of a person. This image makes no sound and won’t react to its environment, and it is intangible, but is otherwise a convincing facsimile. You can make the image more complex by increasing the difficulty of the roll. These different aspects can stack with each other to make a single more difficult roll.
+2 difficulty makes the image respond naturally to outside stimuli and interaction (but it is still intangible.
+4 difficulty causes the image to be large enough to fill an entire zone.
+6 difficulty causes the image to be large enough to fill two zones (you can increase the difficulty by 2 for each number of zones beyond that)
+8 difficulty allows the image to persist for an entire Chapter
+15 difficulty allows the image to persist indefinitely, until you dismiss it or some equally powerful force does.
When you wish to change your appearance, roll Creative+Empathetic (10). This will alter your appearance so that you cannot be easily identified; this altered appearance still has the same height, build, and species as you do, as well as the same clothing, and simply makes you harder to recognise as yourself. While it alters your appearance, like with your images this is an intangible projection.
You can make your disguise more complex by increasing the difficulty. Like with your images, you can stack these different effects for a single more difficult roll.
+2 difficulty makes you appear as a specific person who you are familiar with, who is the same species as you and roughly the same height and build. Using this ability this way lets you copy their voice
+2 difficulty lets you appear as someone of a different species
+4 difficulty makes you appear as a specific person you are unfamiliar with, who is the same species as you and roughly the same height and build. Using this ability this way lets you copy their voice
+4 difficulty lets you change the appearance of your height, build and/or clothing
The images you create last for the duration of a scene, until you create another image, until you choose to stop projecting them or until somebody exposes them as false.
Class Ability - Spellcasting: You can learn and cast Illumination spells.
