Ghosts of Savannah intentionally does not use a visible experience meter or traditional grinding system on the HUD. That does not mean characters cannot grow in strength, influence, or knowledge. Quite the opposite.
Growth in Savannah comes from participation in the living world we are building together.
We encourage players to explore the lore, investigate stories, form relationships, pursue personal arcs, and contribute to the atmosphere and narrative of the city. Character advancement is tied to involvement, creativity, consistency, and engagement with the sim and its evolving stories.
This does not require players to participate in large, fast moving sim wide events if that style of roleplay breaks immersion or becomes overwhelming. There are many ways to become involved and grow your character naturally within the world.
Take an active role within your faction, race, or social group.
Use the Story Request channel to seek out roleplay opportunities or express interest in ongoing plots.
Share roleplay logs or story moments with staff or group leads that you feel contribute meaningfully to the atmosphere and narrative of Savannah.
Engage with the community. Help create roleplay opportunities for others, build connections, and contribute to the ongoing life of the city.
Show curiosity. Follow rumors, investigate strange events, and pursue the unknown rather than waiting for stories to come directly to you.
Hearing a rumor on Dusty’s late night radio show and deciding to investigate it.
Reaching out to a group lead, race lead, or GM after witnessing a storyline you would like your character to become part of.
Taking an active role in unfolding events by contributing roleplay, investigation, conflict, support, or consequences.
Creating smaller personal stories that connect back into the larger atmosphere and themes of Savannah.
While Ghosts of Savannah focuses primarily on narrative progression, characters still progress through broad tiers of experience and influence within the world.
