Awakened Humans are those rare individuals who have uncovered the truth about the supernatural world. They are fully aware of the existence of gifted humans, vampires, shifters, witches, and even the hidden realms that lie beyond ordinary perception, such as the Carcosa realm. Unlike the general population, they no longer live in ignorance; they see behind the Shroud.

These individuals often come from diverse backgrounds. Some are scholars and researchers who have pieced together fragments of hidden lore. Others are conspiracy theorists driven by obsession or paranoia. Many are survivors of traumatic encounters with the supernatural, forced into awareness by events they couldn’t ignore or forget. Through experience or relentless curiosity, they come to understand the deeper truths of the world.

Although Awakened Humans possess significant knowledge about supernatural beings and the forces of magic, they do not have any inherent supernatural abilities. Their power lies in what they know: the patterns they recognize, the signs they can interpret, and the secrets they've uncovered. In this way, they can be valuable assets to gifted and supernatural communities.

Some Awakened are recruited by the Gifted or the Supernaturals as trusted assistants, researchers, or intermediaries. Their skills and insight can make them useful allies, even without magic or supernatural strength.

However, not all Awakened use their knowledge for noble ends. Some choose to exploit their knowledge for personal gain, such as trafficking magical items, blackmailing supernaturals, or providing information to dangerous organizations. Awareness does not always bring wisdom or morality; for some, it only brings opportunity.
