Ghosts of Savannah is designed first and foremost as a slow-burning, story-driven world. Power, influence, and mastery are meant to be grown into through roleplay, mentorship, and immersion in the city’s lore. That said, we do allow players to apply to begin play as an Expert-level character under specific conditions.
This is not the default path, and approval is limited and selective.
We aim to maintain a ratio of 1 expert to 4 other levels within each group to ensure a well-balanced story and gameplay.
An Expert character is not just a stronger character. It is a story steward role.
If approved, you are expected to help carry the world, not dominate it.
Expert applicants must demonstrate:
A strong understanding of Ghosts of Savannah lore, history, factions, and tone
Familiarity with the Veil, the Triad, the Accord, and current political tensions
Respect for established canon and ongoing storylines
Experts are expected to reinforce lore, not bend or rewrite it for personal advantage.
Expert characters are expected to:
Act as mentors within their race, faction, or discipline
Help guide newer players through RP, tone, and lore understanding
Support organic growth rather than overshadowing others
Your story becomes less about you and more about helping others grow theirs.
Experts should:
advance sim-wide plots thoughtfully
Create RP opportunities for others
Avoid centralizing every major event around themselves
Expert play is collaborative, not protagonistic.
Expert characters must be:
Consistently active in roleplay
Responsive in ongoing storylines
Willing to follow through on plots they help initiate
Inactivity or abandonment of an Expert character disrupts the sim more than any other role.
Expert-level play includes:
Thoughtful, lore-aligned RP posts
Actions with consequences
Clear restraint around power use
RP that models good pacing, consent, and narrative weight
Expert characters are examples, not exceptions.
Approval is not guaranteed, even for experienced roleplayers
Most power roles are intended to be grown into through play
We strongly value players who evolve into Experts naturally through mentorship and time
Applying as an Expert opens a conversation; it is not a shortcut
If this responsibility excites you rather than intimidates you, we’re happy to talk further.
