All values entered in each of the groups are editable and can be set to your personal preference.
To change a number value click to then enter a numerical value and press enter.
To change a True/False value, click once to alternate to the other value.
Remember to click "Save Options".
Default values shown
Hide Minimum cMs in Chromosome Browser: Smallest cM value to be displayed when the checkbox is ticked. Segments under this value will be hidden.
Hide Maximum cMs in Chromosome Browser: Largest cM value to be displayed when the checkbox is ticked. Segments larger than this value will be hidden.
Minimum total cMs to display in Relative’s List: Matches with totals lower than this value will be hidden. Helps speed up list loading.
Minimum segment cMs to display in DNA comparison: Smallest cM value to be displayed when viewing ICW or Triangulation data within the DNA Comparison area
Minimum segment overlap to be considered ICW: Smallest amount of overlap to be considered as ICW
Days to Highlight New Matches: Number of days a new match will be highlighted in yellow on the Chromosome Tab
Use Longest Segment in Relative List?: Relative List displays matches with their total cMs shared by default.
You may wish to see who shares the longest segment with you by default instead.
Search functions return profile specific results?: Set as True to have search results return data only for the current profile. Set as False to have results returned from the entire database
Default values shown
Skip cMs under: the smallest cM value that will be imported
Skip SNPs under: the smallest SNP value that will be imported
Skip X chromosome cMs under: the smallest X chromosome cM value that will be imported
Load Data for Primary Keys only: Typically, each profile and each relative will have just one key per data source, this is the Primary key. Some may have a second key for the same source, typically from merged relatives, but also from some imports.
Primary match keys will be bolded in the Sources section of the Relative Detail tab.
If set as True, when processing imports, the secondary keys will be ignored so any extra DNA segments or relative data will not be processed. This will result in the Import Summary message of “Skipped Other Relative”
Note: It is entirely optional , but it will keep erroneous data from being added to associated relative data.
Minutes between Import Pauses (0 for No Pause): The number of minutes the program will run for before it will ask if you wish to stop the import. A “0” value means it will not ask and will run until it is finished.
Default values shown
Add New Relatives: If true, when importing, will add new relatives to the database. If False, will ignore any relative not already present in the database.
Add possible false positives: If True, when importing will add DNA segments that do not overlap false positive regions by at least 5 base pair length. Will be ignored if False Positive Regions have not been set for the profile. See section 6.3.1 for more information.
Show Help before each import: If True, displays the instructions for the import when starting an import. If False, no instructions will be displayed
Replace existing values with import values: If True, updates existing relatives with changed information
Only process new relatives: If True, will ignore any relative already in the database. If False, all relatives will be processed.
Add Gedmatch kit to the Relative name: If True, appends the kit number to the name. Does not apply to 1-to-1 imports
Assume single Ahnentafel name is surname: If True, a single name in a relative’s Ahnentafel will be assumed to be a surname, and treated accordingly
Default values shown
If True, “Add duplicates found to log file”, “Add merges to log file”, and “Add successful updates to log file” will each write to the log file accordingly. This can slow the import, but if this data is present it can potentially make troubleshooting easier if you run into any issues.
Default values shown
Hide Main Window when showing messages: When True, message windows and most pop ups will replace the GMPro window on your monitor. When set to False, the main window will generally not disappear, but messages and pop ups may end up "hidden" behind the main window, resulting in an apparent inability to proceed in the program.
Display message when Relative data has changed: When True, message will be displayed when exiting the Relative Detail tab if the “Save Relative” button was not used.
Use in-memory journaling to improve performance: Back up before using. If true, does as message says.
Privatize name for sharing examples: When True, user will be asked "Use initials plus Surname for Privacy? If no, a random name will be generated." The random names will be randomized letter combinations that will look like a toddler did a keyboard smash. Letter combination will refresh and recombine with each screen change. Caution, there is no filter possible to prevent inappropriate words.
Enable window resizing: will resize the GMPro window to the full screen of your monitor. Check the box if you want to resize, leave unchecked if you don’t. Some users can have issues with this enabled.
Reminder: The default dimensions for the GMPro window is approx. 1280px wide and 770px high. Your monitor display may need to be adjusted if you cannot see everything of the screen at once.
If you checked the box to enable window resizing, a message confirming this will be presented. Answer as needed. After clicking "Yes", Genome Mate Pro will be shut down and will have to be restarted. This is normal.
Archived domain to use for linking: Can be changed for your subscription base.
Enable automatic backup: When set as "True" GMPro will automatically backup the database when it is closed. When initially setting this feature up, a location and file name for the backup will have to be provided. Remember to “Save Options”.
Note: It is still recommended that you do your own manual backups as well.
