New releases to GMP are published on a regular basis, so updating your program should become a standard part of your routine.
1. Open your current version of GMP and back up your database. (File > Backup Database). Choose where you would like the backup saved.
Click SAVE. Click OKAY.
2. On the GMP website. Click on the DOWNLOAD tab. Look under the Mac Download options and chose which download you want to download (64-bit download or 32-bit download).
3. Click on your chosen download and it will download in the ‘downloads’ folder. Wait until it finishes download.
4. Go to your downloads folder and double click on the program. You will get a pop up with ‘Genome Mate Pro’ cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. Click on CANCEL.
5. Go to your system preferences and click on security and privacy. Click on the GENERAL tab. Under allow downloaded from. There will be a message that reads ‘Genome Mate Pro was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer. Click on OPEN ANYWAY.
6. You will get another pop up that reads ‘macOS cannot verify the developer of ‘Genome Mate Pro’. Are you sure you want to open it? Click on OPEN.
7. You will get another pop up that reads “Genome Mate Pro’ would like to access files in your documents folder. Click on OK.
8. You will get a message that reads as follows…
"It’s complicated. Please read the user guide, view the videos then make further inquiries in the facebook Users Group. Remove old data import templates and reactivate the ones you use to ensure data loads correctly with a new version of the app."
You will also notice that the GMP program has been updated to the latest version. Click on OKAY.
